GT Interactive company logo

GT Interactive scored a major hit with their first publication: id Software's DOOM, one of the most popular shareware games (and video games in general) of all time. They would go on to publish several other id Software games including DOOM 2 and Quake, as well as many other games after buying other companies like Humongous Entertainment, WizardWorks, and FormGem. GT Interactive itself was eventually bought by Infogrames Entertainment, and became part of the newly reconstructed Atari Inc once Infogrames changed their name in 2003.
