The Darkest Night is one part maze game, and one part adventure game. As you (a fox-looking character) wander in a dark forest, you sometimes find items that you will need to use (using a simplified inventory system) but more often you find more and more same-looking forest pathways, or even instant death when you get killed in gruesome ways as soon as you enter a screen. I suppose you're intended to make a map on paper as you go (otherwise you may just suddenly die) but who actually does that? The controls are a bit clunky, and although the game projects an interesting and sort of creepy / horror-ish atmosphere (warning, jump-scares ...), I'm not sure most players will have the patience to get very far.
