Y'all remember me? :D Thats right,its TinMan47. :bday:

Do you want to get Linux for free without downloading shit and replacing or double-booting your OS? Then follow my instructions:

Go to a website called ubuntu.com,
after that, create your account(This task is
very easy).After you've completed that,
you can either download an ISO and
burn it to CD and you can run ubuntu,or if
you don't want to fuck up with the download-
ing,you can request a CD from ubuntu.com
for free and it will be shipped at your door.
Either you've downloaded the ISO or requested
a CD,they both are a Live CD or a CD
that runs by itself. To use it,pop it into the CD
Drive,and restart your computer.DON'T WORRY!!!
You didn't replace your OS,its still there!
Its all running off the CD.Cool isn't it?When you
want to exit,go at the bottom of the toolbar of
the Ubuntu Desktop and go to the little red button
that is similar to your Windows PC shut-down
button;then the CD Drive just pops the CD out
and it boots up Windows.Depending on the speed
of the CD Drive, that will determine the speed of
Ubuntu.

Ubuntu is a really cool OS-on-a-CD.Its got its
own Internet server,spreadsheet,wordprocessor,
paint app, games, and a bunch more shit!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh yeah...Ubuntu is as safe,secure,user-friendly,
and stable as Linux itself.

I learned this from CNET.com. :shame:

Ah, this is the Tinman47 I know, discovering and teaching us obvious things! Thank you Tinman!

And Ubuntu is not the best version of Linux. Other than that, instead of waiting 2 to 4 weeks for a CD to be delivered, I'd rather download a DVD iso of Mandriva! :P

Just kidding dude, don't take it personally

Um, you realize that probably 90% of all linux distros are free, and that probably 75% of them come with liveCDs? And that chances are, if you use linux, you know how to get it...

btw, Sabayon > Ubuntu.

Hmmmm, weird, downed Ubuntu 7.04 last time and didn't had to create an account.

Thinking 'bout it, have already downed 3 or 4 (5?)versions of Ubuntu and NEVER had to create an account.

:blah:

They probably have special 'Tinman47' rules.

Though LiveCDs are a really great way to get used to and explore a Linux distro, it's kinda slow and I'd rather create a dual-boot. Ubuntu is great for a first-time user of Linux, but there are better distros out there you can use after you've gained some experience, such as Gentoo.

Don't you have to build your own kernel with Gentoo?

I'm not sure. Never used it lol. But I definitely know that it involves compiling one.

Yeah, I'd suggest trying Mepis after Ubuntu. It's the one I started off with. It's still my favourite.

Moved from Game Creation to General Off-Topic, belongs there, nothing to see with Game Creation. Splitted Tinman47 and Hyde's partition problems.

BTW: nothing's wrong with the posting, just a small clean up.
