I really don't like Christmas. It's too commercialized. Plus, it's a holiday that's rooted in Paganism. So, personally, Christmas is more of a family holiday like Thanksgiving that has no religious meaning.
Plus, I normally get holiday depression, so I'm not a big fan.
However, my birthday's around the corner, so I can celebrate being an old man.

Personally I'm not too "into" Christmas either, I mean that traditional holiday stuff. But at least this time of year people usually try to be a little nicer to eachother nsuch. (ie. slightly fewer acts of intentional cruelty :blah:)

Anywho, merry Christmas all :)

I couldn't have said it better myself.

The Roman Catholic Church ran around ancient Europe grabbing European pagan traditions and re-labeling them "Christian".

It's not just Christmas; Easter, Halloween, Valentines, and maybe others are a by-product of the weird hybrid between the RC church and whatever garbage the Europeans used to do 1000 or so years ago.

Nonetheless if we can love our family more around the time I guess it should be well. :)

I kind of like Christmas... can't stand all the commercialized shit, of course, but I like the holiday itself. Kind of nice to have a reflection time. I mean, if we honestly, truly believe that God, the lord of the universe, the most powerful being in existence, became a human baby, and think about the sacrifice, the condescension, the pain that must've caused, and the ramifications thereof, it really blows your mind. I think too often we speak of Jesus in his glorified state without thinking of his fraility, and that takes away from his reality.

And of course, I know it's just a bunch of paganism with Christian labels, but it's still a nice time to comtemplate. Presents are a nice plus, too.

Erm.... will this degenerate into the "Intelligent" thread?

Anyhows, Merry Christmas everybody! And even if you celebrate Christmas, X-Mas, Hanukah, Christmanukah, Bring a Monkey to Work day or just don't celebrate anything:

Have a very happy "period of time"!!!

I got some new pots and a 35-pc set of cooking utensils (with sorely needed knives) from my mom, a cookbook from my sister, and a Magic Bullet blender from my mom's boyfriend.
It's for making milkshakes. I swear. >_> <_<
And I got $170 from my grandparents, although the $70 from my grandma is the reimbursement for the 8GB HD I bought to replace the dead one in my iPod last month.
So, currently, I have $265. Enough to buy a Wii. If I can find one. Although, I did see a PS3 yesterday. So maybe things should be leveling out.

Christmas dinner soon. Back to reading my cookbook.

I wonder if Wormie has a cook-style version of his worm avatar that he keeps hidden from us

But while we're all bragging about our gifts: I got a sweater from mom(don't act so surprised :P) candy fruits and stuff like that, roller-skates, and MONEY($80 )

In your face Wormie

Forget Sony and Nintendo, the sweater makers are the real Christmas winners :D

re PS3s & Wiis ... PS3s seem easier to get than Wiis now. While I've never seen a Wii in a store (otherwise I'd own one) I've seen two PS3's so far, and BestBuy actually had a bunch of PS3's in stock on their site a few days ago. So while I'm hoping to score a Wii soon it prolly won't be until mid Jan before I get one. ('course I'm not about to camp out or wake up early to get one, ppl who are willing to do that will get it earlier prolly)

Like, happy Christmas. I'd go indepth on the commercialization and the hypocrisy, but that would be hypocrite. Or something.

MERRY CHRISTMAS AND A HAPPY 2007 :bday: :bday: :bday:
