DOOM - Collector's Edition

I saw it in the shop and bought it. End of.

I suppose it was a waste of money to a certain extent, when I could've just downloaded the original DooM. However, it has one disc that contains Ultimate DOOM, DOOM II and Final DOOM. And I have to say, I feel like it was worth my £10. (Around 18 US$ / Around 24 Canada$)

It also has another CD with loads of DOOM3 preview content. (It isn't available here yet, so I drooled over that some.

The word to sum it all up? - Fun.

dead on there... I remember seeing it for $24.00 at work (before I got fired). Is it running fine in XP?

I bought the "Book of Id" (the main part of "The Id Anthology") collection off of ebay and it has all of the Dooms. They work fine in XP with the Windows 95 launcher.

I'd buy DOOM Collector's Edition if I'd see it in the store, despite already having played all the games. I absolutely LOVE collections.

Yeah, with DOOM95 it should work fine, and it's also possible to download one of the many Windows source ports made by people for DOOM.

Yeah, each game (WAD) runs through its own independant DOOM95, so saves don't get confused.

I picked that up as well and added it to my extremely vast DOOM collection. Unfortunatly that is merely a condensed version, of the limited edition $24.00 one that came in a box, it went out of print about a year ago. You would have got posters and such.

Also if you would have dumpster dived in soft soft etc, game stop, and best buy's dumpters during the week of DOOM III's release, you could have got some free puter figures from the Classic DOOM game, I have a Baron Of Hell, and a Mancubus (the best demon of them all).

I'll shut up now. Anyhow, toss that DOOM95 crap away, use:

http://legacy.newdoom.com/ --------- DOOM Legacy, my port of choice, and home of my current project Starwars Legacy.

http://zdoom.org/ ------ZDOOM a favorite port with most MODer's.

http://www.doomsdayhq.com/ ----The DOOMsDay Engine, you're in for a surprise if you have not seen this yet!

$10.00 definatly well spent!

15 years later, I did buy it. It's the absolute worst "Collector's Edition" ever. Yay!

It's not a bad collection tbh. The collection and preview disc fetch a bit of money on eBay now
