Colorful platform game from 90's [Tony & Friends]

Post by mrgreen »

Hi,

I've been looking for one game that I had played when I was a kid. It was most probably DOS game (or maybe Win 95 ? ) and I remember playing it around 1996-1997, but it may be a little older.

It was very colorful platform game. Main character was probably tiger or tiger-like person, and I think that there was possibility to choose some other character, but I'm not sure of that. Most of the game was jumping and collecting something like coins or peanuts. I also remember that it was possible to use doors to move to other part of level.

Does anyone know what game I played?

A Crash Bandicoot game?

Maybe one of the TY games, though probably too recent?

Between golf and tank games "tiger" isn't a very helpful search term!

I said tiger, as I don't really remember which animal it was, tiger was the closest shot. It's not Crash, it was 2D game.

Graphic very similar to Shakii! But it was more "collecting" game than "fighting".

Title: Tony & Friends In Kellogg's Land - by cereal giant Kellogg's, featuring their character Tony the Tiger. Youtube link is of Amiga gameplay.

Glad Vyothric remembered it and you've found it! Have fun.

If you need to run it on an amiga and don't know where to start, there are several free amiga emulators like WinUAE. The company Cloanto has a package for sale "Amiga Forever" with the emulators and everything setup and legit system roms: https://www.amigaforever.com/

edit: but I see it's listed as supported in DosBox, so there must be dos versions as well:

I remember playing it on my PC, along with games as Descent, so I'm 100% sure that was DOS version :) Thank you!

Yes, this is an advertising sponsored game for a Kellogs brand cereal, for DOS.
I've been meaning to add it to Mobygames, but haven't had the time yet.
(I located an English copy somewhere, and there is also a German version)

There was (according to Wikipedia) an early Amiga version (1992? not located yet) and a DOS (1994) game called: "Tony and Friends in Kellog's land", the DOS version can be found with some effort, and it also had a free demo.

There is a mention of a similar Windows game with various titles: "Mission Kellogg's / Mission Nutrition / TONY & Friends: New Adventures - Invasion in Kellogg's Land" from 1999. (I haven't searched much for this one yet).

I assume the game you remember was the earlier DOS version:

(The link to the demo is dead)

I think it used to be in the MS-DOS section of this FTP site but they removed everything DOS related for some reason a while ago.

There are a few CDs in Hallfiry's collection (and at archive.org) which have German shareware/adware stuff so you might find it there:
