I'm going crazy trying to find any trace of this game. I was only about 5 years old at the time, so I don't remember much, but here's what I remember:
- At the start of a new game, you are in the hero's house
- The goal is to collect some special, shiny objects (crystals, crystal shards etc.)
- One of the stages was a mountain with a snowy summit; you would keep sliding back down until you climbed just right
- Another stage had spikes popping in and out of the floor that would kill you instantly if you touched them
- Your attack was a long, narrow projectile that spun as it traveled; I always thought it was a bone
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Attack? Many adventures are mostly about collecting treasure, very little fighting.
What viewpoint? 1st person/3rd person (kings quest style walking around a screen) or action platform style like Prince of Persia?
What environment, in/out-doors (ok, mountain would be outdoors), dungeon/city?
Did it have levels or was it just an open map where you could go anywhere?

That might be one of the Apogee platformers; at the very least let us know if the games "look" similar or not at all similar. As Rwolf says, we're trying to figure out what type of game it is still!
In particular Dark Ages (the first one) had kind of a bone boomerang thingie

Or similar from another company, the famous Jill of the Jungle!

Again, not sure if this is the right kind of game, just see if these platformer adventures spark any memories of similarity or difference.

Thank you for your replies. I don't remember having the ability to jump at all; it wasn't a traditional "jump over pits" platformer. As far as I can remember, your actions were limited to moving and attacking.
Quadko, those games don't look like what I think I remember.
Rwolf, the POV was mostly top-down, but I wouldn't call it 3rd person per se; it was like The Legend of Zelda. I believe you could backtrack to the start of whatever stage you were in, but when you reached the goal the stage ended.

Quadko, the perspective of Get Medieval looks very similar to what I remember. The game definitely wasn't turn based, it was more action oriented. If it helps at all, I don't recall any notion of attribute points, HP or leveling up - you died to one hit from anything. Sorry if "adventure" was a misleading description!
FOUND!!!

I found the game! It's somewhat different from what I remember, but I guess that's to be expected after 20+ years. It's called "Crystal Quest: Thal's Quest for the Crystals." Thanks again for trying to help jog my memory, you guys are awesome!
