Ping Pong

Jesus!

Here is Ping-Pong.

I guess the Chinese came out with it.

The names of the player is Ping and Pong. hehe

Anyways, you should use the following controllers:

Microsoft XBOX360 controller that connects to a USB port
(and)
SONY PSone controller that connects to a USB port through a USB adapter.

If you need to find out which controllers just talk with Quadko.

This is just a mini-game.

There is no miss-the-ball detection at this point.

If you do not have the controllers the keys will do.

You just have to take turns.

(source code of Borland Turbo C 2.01 and Borland Turbo Assembler 4.1)

(the Ping-Pong game itself)

By the way my Borland Turbo C books arrived today.

So I figured people rather have the source code just in case.

Maybe you want to chage how the ball looks??

Maybe you want the paddle to be a different shape??

Maybe you want to adjust the game speed??

Maybe you want to add a high score and such.

Thank you Jesus for another game this time hehe

Today, I praise Jesus for this Ping-Pong inspiration.

Although not new, it is a variation for DOS.

I hope someone likes it.

If you think something could use improvement just let me know.

I can't promise I will implement it.

However if it is within my skill level, you may be surprise.

Thank you for playing!!!!!!!!!!!!

Okay, in this version you have (a secret key) for the second challenge.

It shouldn't be that much harder.

The hint is it makes it harder to keep track on the screen.

I hope you don't mind some feedback!

First, the game seems to be able to play on its own, without any feedback from the player. The ball bounces from the borders of the screen regardless of whether it hits the paddle or not (it also seems to be able to move right through a paddle while bouncing back from the border). In the classic version, the ball will just fly off the screen and the player who missed it will lose points.

Secondly, the paddle control could have more precision IMO. In the current version, once a directional button is pressed the paddle will move until it reaches the border of the screen. As a result, it's somewhat difficult to position the paddle so that it may make contact with the ball. If the paddle only moved while the key is pressed (and stopped immediately* once it is released), that would greatly improve the controls.

*I think that in the classic version there might be some inertia after the key is released but I'm not sure ATM.

Thank you!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi @MrFlibble: I thank you for the feedbacks. They are always welcome#!!

I will see what I can do.

I am a little busy with the house especially my appointment coming up.

I have a psychiatrist appointment on March 31, 2015 at 8am.

So if I pass the test I will get to come home for another 3 months.

Maybe I will get something out by then before I go to see the testing!? hehe

By the way, make sure you copy the entire link.

I think part of the link might not be underlined all the way.

Thank you Jesus!

Well, in this version you press spacebar to continue

You can also use the joystick recommended by Quadko

The game should be able to be controlled all by a gamepad if needed

However for full control the keyboard is easiest

If clicking on the link does not work try copying the entire link.

Then pasting it in the web address space.

Thank you God, Jesus, and Mary!

This is a little idiosyncrasy of this forum: the engine does not parse certain symbols in URLs, like brackets, apostrophes and other punctuation marks. You have to use HTML codes for those. Here's a nice table for reference.

I've just fixed the links with brackets in your previous posts.

The current version is pretty cool! I think the fact that the ball can bounce off the top/bottom borders and thus change direction a bit less predictably is a nice touch :)

I have a extreme idea never created on a Pong game: 4-player gameplay.

1: Arrow keys
2: WS
3: UJ
4: RF
Goo0ooOd idea? Or too much?
Then just a small change in the gravity so the ball can slow down, speed up, etc.

Thank you for fixing the link. You will have to do me a favor all the time if it shows up like that since I am not smart. I can only program goodest hehe

In fact, I am so dumb that my entire house was remodeled by someone else while I watch and study programming#!!

Thank you Jesus.

@RetroDOSgames and @MrFlibble: I'll see what I can do.

In the mean time I hope the game is good enough to hold you over.

90% of all my games are made using:
(1) Borland Turbo C 2.01
(2) Borland Turbo Assembler 4.1

The other 10% is:
Borland C++ 2.0, Borland C++ 5.5, Borland Turbo Assembler 5.0

Because of copyright concerns I release most of my work in the first two.

Borland C++ 2.0 has a very strict copyright requirement.

They do make me code by THE GIFT OF GOD, JESUS, AND MARY best!

So to sum up:
Borland C++ 2.0 is a professional package

While the other languages that I use is for public domain.

Not quite the high quality that people would buy.

So I'm sorry it is not professional level!.

Jesus!

Here is your request for 4 players.

However to make it easier on the players you use the controllers and keys.

So talk to Quadko about which controllers to get.

I have the Microsoft XBOX360 USB controller set for the top player.

The bottom player uses the SONY PSone controller with USB adapter.

The left player uses the W and S keys.

The right player uses the I and K keys.

Q quits the game.

space is used to continue after points are given out.

Thank you Jesus#!!!!!!!!!!!!

Again you can either copy the link and paste them on the address line.

Or MrFlibble can edit them if he wishes.

I hope you enjoy the first ever creation of 4 player Ping-Pong for DOS#!!
