There is a game that I have long wanted to look up, mostly because of the number of hours I spent as a kid trying to solve the mystery. Unfortunately, over the many years, I've forgotten many of the details.
Things I know for sure:
- You were trying to solve a murder. I believe it was the king.
- There was a jester and he spoke with a coded message
- There was a dragon who would not let you pass unless you spoke his name. The name he accepted was "Blaze"
- The game was set in a castle
- The game had some RPG elements in that you could fight things in the crypt at the very least.
- If you guessed Blaze for the dragon, the jester's code changed to something else
Things I kind of recall, but might not be accurate:
- Was on a 5 1/4 floppy (3 1/2 if I'm wrong)
- I recalled playing this on a Tandy 1000.
- Top down, ascii graphics
- I want to say it was a Welsh castle, but I could be very mistake here

Some initial guesses: Castle Adventure, Wizard's Castle.
Text Adventure game: Enchanted Castle (description).

Almost certainly Legends Of Murder. Here's a review from May on the CRPG Addict's website.
