Update BIOS
Ok, I bought a new 40 gig Western Digital 7200rpm hard drive. Problem is, current BIOS doesn't support over 32 gigs. The update for my board (ASUS p2L97) lets me support this, but requires something called "Flash Memory" to update my bios from 1001 to 1009. When I run the program, it says Flash memory: <Unknown> and can't update. Anyone know another way to update bios?

Three things, er... four come to mind, and more than one may apply:
You need to enable BIOS update in your current BIOS, if applicable.
You need to turn off the BIOS anti-virus protection.
You have to throw the jumper on the momboard to enable a flash update. (BTW: Mine was reverse marked. I had to unenable the update to make the update. Damn inscrutible Asians!!!)
Or you have a damaged BIOS chip
.
Last note, just to cover all the bases: you are using the right company BIOS flasher and/or BIN file? The BIN is a good download and the floppy is giving a good read, right?
