my summer essay

Post by Oz »

My drama teacher called me up on monday morning, at 8.00 am, to tell me that i had not finished a piece of coursework (coursework is like an essay that gets sent to the examining board and is included in deciding your grade). i was like, eaaargh, my birthday party was a bit wild. any way, i started up the ol' 'puter, and dsure enough, i had given her an unfinished piece. furthermore, i couldn't find my notes for the essay, or the script for the play that we're basing the work on (The Ghetto by joshua Sobol). so i did it all by memory. aaargh this sucks, i thought. anyway, she called me up again today and told me that i had to come into school early and deliver it to her office. AAARGH!! anyway, she's always asking us to word - process our work. this is fine with me, i can type pretty fast when i want to (20 words a minute, eh?), but some people in our class don't even have a computer, so they have to do it at a friend's house or at lunchtime, in the computer rooms. so, i have decided to give all my work to her on floppy now. she'll be annoyed, but i'll tell her that i don't want to use up any more paper than i have to, because i use up so much already. i think this is a great way to save paper, and, almost as importantly, annoy teachers that sometimes annoy you.

( i have nothing against this teacher, just the fact that she insists on word-processed work from everyone. it's really the Image talking.

more paper wasted... arrgh!

They said that the computer would revolutionize the world, so why not?

With file encryption, it is a little hard to copy someone's work
- way to go, I salute you for showing Them that They were wrong about computers... you have shown Them that you don't have to waste more paper for every file you type out

Did you know that the average classroom wastes 6000 papers within just a few months (now that's assuming a class size of 30, wasting 2p per day)
That is just an average of about 5-8 months...
Put that number into 12 or so classrooms in a year...
72000 pages per year... for even the smallest school :shame:

Now lets assume there are a million classrooms in the world that only have 12 classrooms... with *efficiant revoulutionary* computers that *supposedly save trees*:
72,000,000,000 pages every year wasted

All because the teacher wanted *proof*, and *papers for government record*
I know They destroy documents after 3 years in Canada, so that is A LOT wasted... Just putting it on a floppy, saves time and money... Teachers would have it easier too... but no, They have to make it complicated :o

So I encourage ALL to use floppy disks
- Note: Blu-RaY disks are coming from Sony VERY soon... 23GB disks!!
Let's hope They want more *proof*, shall we?

I plan on handing in my Grade 12 8 paragraph comparative essay on a USB flashdrive. That way they never figure out how to read it, and its not my problem my floppy drive is broken on my laptop.
