Help with ANSI.SYS key remapping

Post by pb1592 »

Hello,

I want to know if I can use ANSI.SYS to remap keys for a dos application. The application is a Nintendo (NES) emulator. The emulator is loaded via command line which then loads the rom and runs the game. Only problem is this particular emulator (FCE Ultra) does not allow key mapping. If has a fixed key configuration.

I want to know if ANSI.SYS being loaded prior to running FCE Ultra will actually pass the key remapping commands into the application.

So for example, I want to map the "K" button to register as the "X" button being pressed (If it registers both K and X simultaneously thats ok too).

Will this work or is ANSI.sys strictly for command prompt remapping?

If Ansi.sys will not work are there any other remapping solutions? I'm running the win95 version of DOS and for this particular project can NOT run through the Win95 GUI, it must be loaded into DOS mode.

Thanks!
