joystick to work on networkq rac rally under windowsxp

Post by showman »

Help please

I dug out one of my favorite old games networkq rac rally, it is dos based and works fine (including sound) when run on windowsxp except it doesnt recognise any game controllers (apart from the keyboard!).
here is the configuration:
windowsxp professional
creative soundblaster live soundcard
logic3 tornado joystick using gameport (not usb)(installed as 2 button joystick in nwinxp windows recognises this ok and calibartes ok etc..)
pentuim III - plenty of memory and hard disc space etc..

Windows sees the joystick fine, but the game doesn't recognise the existance of a joystick, i.e. when you try and calibrate it in the game it doesn't respond to any joystick controls.

It all worked fine in windows 98 ! and I don't really want to dual boot into win 98 or anything like that, is there any way of getting it to see the joystick from winxp ?

any help appreciated.

I've removed this entry in case it causes offense, which I don't want to happen.

I hope that didnt upset them. If it did, they might come here and look for some reason to sue or shut us down! [/parinoia]

Oh I hope not ! Maybe I was a bit harsh, but I wasn't critisising their product (which works fine - a nice cheap but well made joystick - thankyou SpectraVideo) just the after sales support which could have been better.

I'm sure that now I've given them a bit free advertising they wouldn't even think of doing anything like that :-)

This is a really useful site, and it means that people are getting more value out of their older games, which can't be a bad thing.

I've edited previous entries, so as to not cause offense.
