Risk 2

hi, this is a windows game which i need help with, im aware of what this site specializes in.

the intro videos wont work at all and im left at the risk screen while the videos apparently play behind it, i say this because i can here them and i know its them because i played the videos in windows media player.

im on windows XP home and have already tried compatibility mode and some NOCD files as well (the nocd files where used to test if it was a problem with the safedisc or not).

Can only say that there must be something wrong with your setup.
RiskII plays here on my XPsp2 without any problem.(Also on my son's PC).
Don't need compability set.

Bad rip maybe? Registry key missing?

BTW: Risk 2 needs the Ligos Indeo codecs to be installed properly.

whoot a reinstall of windows did the trick >: D the video codecs are not needed, tho i installed them anyway.

i tested the game without and it ran fine.

That's normally the case, as Windows has those codecs (or compliant ones) on board.
It's only needed if your codecs are borked by some other program.
End swell all swell.

And now you have a fresh installed Windows, can't be bad.

i've narrowed down what causes the problem, either ffdshow or the klite codec pack prevernt the game operating properly.

yep, the problem is most definitely related to ffdshow.

i reinstalled ffdshow and limited the programs it can interact with and the problem disappeared.

I hope you know that you must be carefull where you get the codecs for ffdshow, some versions are borked, not to say dangerous for your system.
Only get them from the official approved sites.
