Yeah, I made that thread, it was awesome, unlike eBums world which is shit...

Anyway, Wormy, you can also view what's probably the same video here, it's not too graphic, though I don't really feel there's a need for it to be shown. I'm posting a link because sooner or later someone will and at least this one is potentially tame by comparison.

And Julie what beheading are you talking about?

Oh yeah he’s dead, wow that’s great, of course he believed he was a martyr so is it really a fitting punishment or a punishment at all for that matter? Fuck no. That murdering bastard got off easy, further how does killing him solve anything? Does it bring back the people he’s murdered, tortured, made disappear? No all it does is lower us to his level.

At the end of the day he was a murderer and so we were for killing him. If you call that justice then your mind is seriously warped.

FWIW, clearly I don’t believe in the death penalty, what gives anyone the right over another human’s life? The only person with that power in my opinion would be God and last I checked that’s a whole faith thing of whether you believe or not if he is in fact real, he wasn’t wearing a black hood taunting Sadam moments before hanging him, that’s for sure.

You want some form of justice for what he did? Lock him away, make him live with what he’s done, not matter how sick an individual, we all have a conscious, lock him up and let him die a lonely, old withered man who is but a shadow of his former self, that’s justice at least to an extent, a far greater extend then simply pre-emotively ending a mans life.

That would be all fine and dandy in a civilized country, but in the chaos that we call Iraq, allowing the man to be alive and in prison is simply a bad idea. Kidnappings and a massive terror campaign would only be the beginning. The fact that no one committed these acts to get Saddam out of prison while in trial still sort of mystifies me.

The only reason why I'm against the death penalty is because it's expensive, at least in the US system. It's more expensive than supporting an inmate for a life term.

The thing is, I believe when you knowingly commit a murder, you surrender your rights as a human being.

I don't mean locking him up in Iraq, that'd be asking for trouble, having it known where he's locked up would be asking for trouble, just some un-disclosed location in the middle of nowhere in which he can rot away.

I agree with you on that when you knowingly kill someone in cold blood, you're throwing away your humanity, at least to an extent, but I still don’t think that gives other people the right to dictate whether someone lives or dies.

And to reiterate what I said before, for him, this was no punishment, he believed he was dying a martyr. There is no punishment great enough to fit the crimes he committed, but in my eyes, the so called punishment dealt out was anything but.
