Dos Shutdown screen thing??

Post by Wally »

I've been after this app for a while, my grandpa had it on his old DOS PC.

Anyway after typing shutdown.exe we'd get a reddish blob with animated writing saying "That's all folks", with PC speaker sounds an all.

I'd like to just go down memory lane and see this again.

What is this doing in Off Topic? Crazy Wally !!!......

Shutdown.exe still exists in NT ones, it's an admin tool, but that's not the one you need of course.

The ol' MSDos one you're asking about was an external command prog, seems hard to find ....
You had similar progs in most system enchancers, as 4Dos or Norton's.
Some even included a HD 'park heads' routine, so that the HD heads were landing on zero zone, to avoid a hard disk crash, modern HDs do that automatically when shutting down the power.
