"Your Hard Disk Is Full" error on FIFA '96
Hi guys,
I am new to DOSBox, but all the games i try to install of the cdrom give me the error "Your Hard Disk Is Full" when I try to run an install.exe file off a cd. i have done the following once entering dosbox:
mount d d:\
mount c c:\games
d:\install
I have a couple of gigs of free space on y hard drive, i am running under windows 2000... any clues?
thanks,
mike

Ofcourse I have. If I haven't, it wouldn't even let me mount C, instead I would get an error that directory C:\Games doesn't exist.dosraider wrote:Check your mount lines.
Do you have an existing C:\GAMES ?????
I did this:
mount d i:\ -t cdrom - usecd 0 - ioctl <enter>
mount c c:\games <enter>
d: <enter>
install <enter>
In my case I: is the cdrom drive under my WinXP where the FIFA96 CD is in.
But still all what I get, is that Fifa96 install says: "Your hard disk is full. You need to delete some files before you can install this game."
After your mount lines do this:
c:
dir
Post your results. Screenshot is ctrl+F5.
You'll find the screenie in your dosbox folder under capture.
*Edit
Or , and this is from memory, you must input the drive you want to install the game after 'install', or it will try to install it on your CD,something as:
install c:

dir

*UPDATE*
Is a real bitch to get working in dosbox , but:
Fifa96 works directly in XP (***sometimes).
Hit autorun and let the game install in C:\Fifa96, go to folder C:\Fifa96 , rightclick on FIFA96.EXE, set comp to W95, check the boxes 256 colors, 640x480.
That's it.
***
Problem: soundcard.
If you don't have a compatible soundcard or an onboard soundchip forget it.
*Edit
*UPDATE 2*
Works also flawless in VPC-MSDos 6.22

Adding -freesize 500 when mounting would be a bit easier than making a partition for a recalcitrant game, I thought.
But even partitioning or freesize doesn't always work.
That's where VPC comes in as a handy solution.
VPC isn't so hard to master, screwing something up in VPC isn't dramatical, it does not affect your host (real) PC. You can start over a 100 times if needed, it doesn't affect your Windows.
Partitioning a hard disk on the other hand can screw up your whole PC-HD if you don't know what your doing. Even if you know what you're doing, a power failure is enough to screw up your PC. You may have nightmares now :)
Partitioning a HD is not an option for most who ask help here.
