I remember playing this great side-scrolling shooter at arcades, and I was just wondering if anyone knows where I can download it, or even If i can download it.

Try searching for Mame or Raine roms, as they are illegal to download (24 hours notice) I cant provide many links

Therefore the emulator is avaliable at www.emuviews.com
its freeware and legal.

For an emulator, you will probably want MAME32:

http://www.classicgaming.com/mame32/download.htm

(Windows version of MAME (Multi Arcade Machine Emulator))

As for the roms ... you'll have to find them yourself ;)

Or you could always buy a copy of the game. Of course, buying the original NeoGeo carts would be very very expensive. You can get Metal Slug and Metal Slug X for Playstation, as well as Metal Slug 3 for PS2 & XBox ... although you probably already knew about MS3 for PS2/XBox since that's probably what reminded you about the game in the first place.

Incidently, I just read that SNK is going to be bringing out a CD for PS2 next year that includes both Metal Slug 4 and Metal Slug 5 on it. Nice! If I had a PS2 I'd definitely pick that up ...

Um, was this ever a DOS game? If yes, perhaps he's looking for the DOS version.

Thank you Oz... I've said that far too many times. It's more tradition than law, and it had something to do with the fact that the courts had to give the servers 24h or something like that before they could be arrested and so in that time, the ROMS would all be deleted off your system... I don't fully remember the story tho... one of the DG members expanded on my post. If that user would like to say it once more, please.

There's no dos version of Metal Slug. In addition to those systems mentioned, there is also Metal Slug Mission 1 & 2 for Neo Geo Pocket. For that you need an emulator. There is also Metal Slug Advance for Gameboy Advance. There are also Metal Slug flash games such as Metal Slug Rampage & Metal Slug Rampage 2. These can be found on flash sites, use goggle to find them. If you want there is also Metal Slug Stick flash game featuring a stick man.

The names are:
mslug ->Metal Slug - Super Vehicle-001
mslug2 ->Metal Slug 2 - Super Vehicle-001/II
mslug3 ->Metal Slug 3
mslug3n ->Metal Slug 3 (not encrypted)
mslug4 ->Metal Slug 4
ms4plus ->Metal Slug 4 Plus (bootleg)
mslugx ->Metal Slug X
mslug5 ->Metal Slug 5 (last time that I know it wasn't supporting, now not sure whether any MAME have improved to support it)

Try other MAME versions like MAME32a, MAME091b or some other MAME version. For some MAME, you can go to cmd and type "MAME mslu" and all the correct names for metal slug comes out or if you type full name like "MAME mslug", the files missing would come out. Then you know what name to change or what file to get. For certain windows version of MAME, the is the auto-renaming of ROMs.

what version mame32? and some sites offer older versions of games and these will not work with mame... it only supports the latest most accurate game dump (version).
