Im not so much a dosgamer anymore i must admit but i dont mind porting them if they are opensource to another platform.

I agree that "graphics Whores" dont have any sense of gaming what so ever. Now its oh that game sucks because of the 2d graphics and there is no point playing it. Isnt it true that all 2d games are more fun?

Since the PSP was released and homebrew was possible then thats when all the 2d games started coming back in. Such as NES, SNES, SMS are all there in that little machine also a N64 emulator is in the works which will be great!

My computer is outdated and wont run the latest games (about 5 years old now) and wont run the ubber games because of the low end graphics card (Intel Extreme Graphics 64mb)

Not many 3d games are good :)

oh BTW i do like Mac games and PSP games :) (Homebrew)

I just don’t play games that much anymore, dunno why, must be getting sick or something. :P

But I’ll always be a DOS gamer, who gives a shit about sexy looking graphics if the story sends you to sleep in 5 minutes? That and I was still using DOS back in 99, I only ever uped to Win98 to get online.

I'm 18, grew up with Dos, cause my parents didn't see the value in a decent computer, so I was always about 2-3 years behind the curve. Stunts, Scorched Earth, Sim Farm, these games raised me! :D

19 years old.

It just goes to show, even though the games are old, most of the people playing them have grown up with more modern games. Clearly, we prefer the older ones though.

If you wants to know more about member's ages, you could refer to How old are you by Moo.

How old? Not telling you :P Okay, it's 20+ I got my first handheld at 4 to 5 years old. Then folowed by consoles, old computers without dos, just basic language. Then of course, had PC with dos & windows (sounds like a house - "doors" & "windows"). Technology changes, what used to be nice graphics in a dos game during the dos games era becomes terrible graphics in a widows games era with 3D technology.

I beg to differ, Spartan: Total Warrior is a lot funner than about 95% of the other games I've played, that INCLUDES many many DOS games.

But one game hardly accounts for an entire genre. heh. Comes damn close though.....

Oh right, 17 I am.

Wow. Just wow. I think I need some kind of shield to stop me for telling you how freaking retarded that statement was.

3D Games have been more popular and better than 2D games since they were created. Just look at the "3D Game" counterstrike, which is played by around 100,000 people every day. WoW pulls in a few million a month.

I think he's referring to 3D dosgames... of course, one only needs to mention Doom, Quake, Daggerfall, Darklands, Wolf 3D... though IMO a lot of the top-down RPGs of that time were a lot better. See Nethack, the AD&D Dark Sun games, most of the SSI RPGs. Admittedly, there was also Eye of the Beholder and various 3D maze RPGs, but I never liked those as much as they were... much more limited in scope. (Newer, non DOS 3D RPGs like, say, Gothic 2 or the last two TES games blow that out of the water, of course)

I'm 16, 17 soon. As for 3D games being better then 2D/DOS games... well personally i don't think you should try to compare these as a single topic. The games from the past were created to time jumps and collect bonuses for points, the games now are to project realism and stunning details. You can't compare something like this, they are to remain seperate and be enjoyed equally.

So the bottom line is that old games(non-text-based old games) are great
