The Canada Thread

Post by Swiftman »

Canada is awesome.

If you get hurt, it's free to get all fixed up at a hospital.

The quality of life per person compared to the US is higher in Canada.

If you want a farm house and land, Canada has MUCH more space for it than the US. Canada, being the second largest country square area-wise, has about a tenth of the US's population.

Canada is a world leader in making the highest quality homes, especcially in the ways of retaining heat.

I'm mainly stating Canada vs. US facts, since I have spent a lot of time defending my country against stubborn and arrogant Americans.

don't worry, stubborn / arrogant americans are the source of all the internet's, as well as Canada's, UK, Aus, and the rest of the world's problems.

DAMN STRAIGHT!!

Hey want to farm? Come to Australia, we've got so much space we don't know what to do with it.

To roll off a few stats for you.

Population of:
Australia = 20,090,437
Tokyo = 12,369,000 (Total pop of China = 1,306,313,812)
Yes that's right I just compared a single city to my countries entire population, yep 1 single city in China equates to more then 60% of my countries entire population.

Now lets run off some land size stats.
Australia = 7,682,300 SQ KM
China = 9.59 Million SQ KM

Now that's about 380 square metres per person in Australia.
As for China that's about 7 square meters per person.

Now since this is a thread about Canada I better compare you guys to us as well.
Population = 32,805,041
Size = 9,976,140 SQ KM
Now that’s around 304 square metres per person, much better then China, I wouldn’t say no where near as good as Australia but we do have a bit more.

And for the heck of it let’s throw the US & UK into the mix.
Population of US = 295,734,134
Population of UK = 60,441,457

Size US = 9,631,418 SQ KM
Size UK = 241,590 SQ KM (Total size is 244,820 SQ KM as there is 3,230 SQ KM of water but I’ll just use the land size if it’s all the same to you)

Now that’s around 32 square metres per person in the US.
And about… 3 square metres per person for people in the UK? Well I’ll be damned.

So it would seem UK is the worst with China hotly contesting that title, US is pretty poor but it could do worse, Canada sounds pretty sweet, but as per usual Australia pwns all.

NB: Point of order, I said around with all the ‘this amount of space per person’ thing because I CBA to write it out to decimals when the message is already quite clear.

BTW in case you were wondering I got those population and size stats by typing “Population of x” and “Size of x” into Google, where x is the name of the country in question.

*coughs* Sinister, Tokyo is in Japan, not China...

3 meters a person in the UK? o_0

That's..... WAY less than even the smallest apartment...

That's, like, hardly bigger than Bender's Robot Apartment.

This is possible for two reasons:
1) Families share living space.
2) Sometimes, architects design more than one floor, especially in apartment (flat) buildings.

Yeah I just realised that Tokyo thing to Swift, but I think I can get away with it just this once, it wwas nearly 2am at the time.

As for the living space in the UK thing, well I guess high rise buildings are the only way to explain it and even then I'm not so sure.

It’s seems that everything’s gone wrong, since Canada came a long, their not even a real country anyway.

It's SQUARE KILOMETERS, dumbass. There aren't 1000 square meters in a square kilometer, there are 1,000,000 (1,000^2) square meters in a square kilometer. Sheesh, don't they teach math outside of the U.S.? (Just so you know, a square is geometrically equal to ^2. so while one kilometer has 1000 meters, one kilometer^2 has 1,000^2 meters (1,000,000)

That would give 3,000 square meters per person in the U.K. (Which is 0.003 of a SQ KM) I don't think you guys realize just how big these measurements are. (A good size city doesn't top 100 SQ KM)

Canada's nice.

Maybe I'll retire there.
But that's not for another 50 or so years.
