info needed for making a d-fend tutorial...

Post by franpa »

hi im wandering if an admin/moderator has the ability to lock a thread yet give a specific user the ability to still edit it afterwards or would they have to submit changs to a admin/moderator and have them apply the changes.

this is for when i make a pictorial guide with descriptions.

Locking is easy, so is unlocking to allow you to edit. Or you could just send the changes to a mod/admin and they can edit it.

so it cant be made so that me and all admin/mods are the only ones who can edit it. because if it can be done then this would be an incentive to actually make one for you guys.

Okay, basically, the quickest way to do what you want within phpBB (without any mods, that is), is to create a usergroup, set that usergroup's permissions to edit/mod over whatever forum you want, and then add all the members you trust to edit posts to that group.

Unless I misunderstand you. You can also make it so that only mods and admins can edit their own posts if, when creating/updating the forum, you deney edit power to registered users. To this, go to permissions under the Forum Admin tab, select advanced mode, and set "Edit" to "mod."
