could someone tell me in aussie dollars how much it is to upgrade windows xp home to windows xp pro as initially i didnt realise how bad windows xp home was.

franpa, there is nothing really wrong with XP home. It works thats the main thing.

Pro just has a few additional features such as Network Administration and thats about it.

No point spending over $150 for something that you arent gunna use

since specs have changed since my last post

PC:
AMD 64 3000+
SB Audigy 2 Platinum Pro
270gigs of HDD space
512 OCZ DDR400 (needs to be upped to at least a gig)
ATi Radeon 9200se (Needs to be upgraded to a 9800)
Running <a href="http://www.mepis.org">Mepis</a>

Laptop:
IBM Thinkpad R51 (garbage POS... got thru school)
512mb RAM
1.5ghz Pentium M
~40gig HDD
Running XP Pro (garbage) and Fedora Core 4 (crap too, but better than Windows)


And before you ask, yes I play dosgames... via Dosbox.

theres more then that... theres future compatibility meaning it supports dualcore cpu's. winxp home doesnt... which annoys me because i found that out after i got windowsxp home.

Processor: Intel Pentium, MMX, ~200MHz
Memory: 56MB RAM
O/S: Microsoft Windows 98 (4.10, Build 2222) A
Video Card: SiS 530
Display Memory: 7.5 MB
Sound Card: ESS PCI Solo-1 DirectSound Driver
HDD: 8GB.
Drives: 3.5 floppy, 32x CD burner, b0rked network port.

i calculated this and found it to be around $850 - $920 AUD. (and that price includes extra drive bays and 2 speed adjustable case fans.)

I have a 1.o GHZ 448 MB RAM 20 gig HDD 16 MB graphics card.
of course I'm only 13 yrs old and I bought this on ebayfor 90 bucks.
I upgraded the ram a little. Oh yes also running under WINXP
