Isn't that stupid ... they're SHAREWARE. Goddamn. The worst part is I may have to remove them anyways just to passify the IDSA and my host.

I would check to see if the shareware distribution license that allowed you to freely distribute the games listed is still in effect. If so, you had every right as granted by the publisher its self to distribute the games.

Yeah, check that out, though I believe that it's perfectly legal, even still. If they deny it, you could take it to court, and probably win. :D I'd contact ID and ask them if it is legal to distribute the shareware versions of their games.

Okay, it's time to ban your sorry butt from this forum. We warned you about your senseless posts before, things that no one wants to read, so you are seriously going to be banned.. We've warned you MANY times about raising dead topics, spamming, writing senseless posts (like this one) and the like. I'm sorry you're a moron who can't listen to authority, but it IS your loss, not ours.

hum........ Did Mr. Zingwhipper happen to notice this?

SHAREWARE: The practice of spreading parts or time limited entertainment to attract new customers to buy the full version.

That is perfectly legal. i think they glanced it and thought it was the full version.

Emmzee should respond to the e-mail explaining that they were only shareware games. He should also send copies of the various shareware licenses that allowed him to distribute the games to prove to the ISDA that what he did was legal.

BTW, WFH has been blocked from the forum until December 19th.

I'm pretty sure Doom and Quake's shareware is still in effect, since you can download them from ID's website!

Mario is already gone, because I could KIND of see their point on that one. (Using a copyrighted character in an unlicensed game.) I wrote to my host explaining the situation and this was their reply:

--------------------

I understand that you do not have any abondonware/warez on your site, however
they feel that you do not have the right to distribute those games, even the
shareware versions.

I suggest taking those meantioned links down and contact the copyright
holders for permission to have the old versions of the software on your
site. After you get permission to put them online, feel free to put them
back.

Thank you,

Network Operations Centre Tera-Byte.com

--------------------

I don't have anything against my host because they are simply stuck between a rock and a hard place, and doing what they have to do. If they don't make me take the links down the ISDA will sue them instead which they of course don't want.

I've emailed id Software about Wolf/Doom/Quake ..... hopefully I'll get a reply soon ... if I don't get a reply by tomorrow night I'll take those three links down (for now) and keep trying until someone responds to me. Ah the fun of running a website hehe :)

Oh I guess I should update this sucka sometime eh? Well I'm sure before Christmas I can update ... I've been working a lot on my other site lately ...

To tell you the truth, I don't mind. Wolfenstein sucks, and the other two I already have downloaded. But I hope you can get it worked out, because the two are really great games! Happy Holidays!

emmzee, that site's great! Now I know some stores to get my SNES games off of other than ebay or amazon!

BTW, I just went to id Software........it looks like they are constructing their download section at the time, so *technically* you can't get the shareware games from id at the time. Maybe your download can go up when their's do....
