Emmzee has FTP/php/mySQL access to the entire site while me and Jorrit are limited to the built in admin panel for phpBB. Board-wise it doesn't make any difference though it's a bit inconvenient for me when trying to install scripts/new member rank images or making new directories.
Emmzee, would you mind if I had FTP/php access to the part of the site containing the message board? It wouldn't really make a difference safety wise (since I could've screwed the forum over already if I wanted to) but would make some functions a lot easier to do.

WFH is a prime example.

No you couldn't. You don't have database accessI could change my post count to 4294967295 or -1 if I wanted to.

Uh, no. The phpBB system allows DB to give himself whatever rank he wants. He could go by post count as well.Unless he demoted himself
Nothing. The default admin rank is Site Admin (Or just admin). Someone created another rank called Admin (Or Site Admin). There is no diffrence at all. Emm does have FTP access, but that's because he runs the server. There is no FTP access through phpBB controls.BTW what can a Site Admin do that an Admin can't? i.e. what can Emmzee do that Dogbreath and Jorrit can't?
wtf is php access? Nice job at making up things DBmind if I had FTP/php access

phpmyadmin... essentially an extention of mySQL. If you really don't know what it is do a internet search, Kazer0...
(And yes I *do* know what I'm talking about given that I've installed phpBB on a friends website.) And while mySQL may not be great for directly editing the boards it'd be good for accessing databasing pertaining to the MBs that the "admin panal doesn't. FTP would contain directory listings allowing me to add images in member listings.
But never mind, this was only meant to answer JMS's question, not raise a debate on the uses of mySQL and php databases and whether or not I should be allowed to use mySQL based programs to access them.

Heh. You really must have no idea how many mistakes you made in that post.
Theres no such thing as a php database. There are databases that php communicates with, which mySQL is one of.
In all this, you still havent told me what php access is.
Everyone knows what phpmyadmin. Thanks for sharing. But that has nothing to do with anything.phpmyadmin... essentially an extention of mySQL. If you really don't know what it is do a internet search, Kazer0...
Wow, that's nice. 1 installation and you know everything eh?(And yes I *do* know what I'm talking about given that I've installed phpBB on a friends website.)
mySQL IS the database. It's not an accessing tool, thats what phpmyadmin is. mySQL is a database server program and script. Which, BTW, not even emmzee would have direct access to. Command line can only be accessed through the actual PC, or remote console. And while mySQL may not be great for directly editing the boards it'd be good for accessing databasing pertaining

Exactly. Using phpmyadmin to edit the mySQL database... how is that hard to understand, Kazer0? So, to put it in your technocratic termonology, using phpmyadmin to access mySQL databases pertaining to php which communicates with it. How much more clearly do I have to state that? Or is there something more for you to try and misinterpet in that statement?

I never claimed to know everything, but I'm not stupid either. I know how phpBB works and would rather you not act like a condescending little fuck over the wording of a post I made.Wow, that's nice. 1 installation and you know everything eh?
Thankyouverymuch Mr. I like stating the obvious. I *know* what mySQL is.mySQL IS the database. It's not an accessing tool, thats what phpmyadmin is. mySQL is a database server program and script.
