Subject: URGENT REAL ESTATE NEEDED !!!

Dear Friend,
I write to inform you of my desire to acquire estates or landed
properties in your country on behalf of the Director of Contracts and
Finance Allocation of the Federal Ministry of works and Housing in
Nigeria.
Considering his very strategic and influential position, he would want
the transaction to be strictly as confidential as possible. He further
want his identity to remain undisclosed at least for now, until the
completion of the transaction. Hence our desire to have an oversea agent.
I have therefore been directed to inquire if you would agree to act as
our oversea agent in order to actualise this transaction.
The deal in brief is that the funds with which to carry out our
proposed investments in your country is presently in a coded account in
the Nigerian apex bank and we need your assistance to transfer the
funds to your country or any safe account outside your country in a
convenient bank account that will be provided by you before we can put the
funds into use. For this you shall be considered to have executed a
contract for the ministry.
The contract sum of which shall run into US$15.5Million of which your
share shall be 30% if you agree to be our overseas agent. Your arae of
specialisation does not matter in this transaction, all that is required
of you is a safe account and your willingness to assist us acquire
estates in your country.
As soon as payment is effected and the amount mentioned above is
successfully transferred into your account, we intend to use our own share
in acquiring some estates abroad. For this too, you shall serve as our
agent . You are requested to communicate your acceptance or otherwise
of this proposal via e-mail or you can also telphone
me;234-802-331-6696. After which we shall discuss in details the modalities for seeing
this transaction through. I will furnish you with the details of this
transaction.

If however, you are not disposed to assist, kindly delete/destroy this
letter in view of the confidentiality of the proposed transaction and
interest of personalities involved.
Thank you in anticipation of your co-operation.

Yours sincerely,
DR PERRY.

and guess what... by opening that email, you have just alerted the spammer that the address they sent that email to was valid, and that there is a live person at the other end. Good job

What spam blocker do all of you use, if any? I have 5 different pop3 email accounts ... and get lots of spam :suspicious:

I tried out the Cloudmark Spamnet beta for Outlook Express but it didn't work properly ... I'm trying out MailWasher Pro right now but it doesn't seem to be doing that great of a job ...

EDIT: Just after posting this, I got another one of these Nigeria scams in my inbox. 'cept mine was for $42million ... w00t!!

Come on guys, your bursting my bubble :(

I looked into the scripting of the email and I found out that the program I'm using (My uncle hosts it, with his own filters...) disabled the scripting in side of it. (Note: it was disabled server side)

Darn it emmzee! I will get a better offer, I will!!!

I got one of those too.

Which reminds me: A good way to prevent spam but still let your site's visitors get your adress is to not put a link nor text, but an image with the e-mail adress. I'm about to do that, too.
"Long before there was ultra-super-duper-128-bit-polygon-video-capture, hardware hype, wEiRd TyPe, pointless game ratings, E3, SCREAMING GUYS in ads, Virtual Reality, cliches like "in your face" and "it's the ultimate", 360 degree roto-scope-rhetoric from self righteous reviewers, CD-this, 3-D that, multi-million-dollar TV commercials tainted with TOILET humor...

...there was fun."

Interesting... I just got an email today, I went to click it to delete it, but I accidently double-clicked it  Anyway, the thing actually opened an internet browser and contacted some site... lucky for me the script was non-malicious... but still.
