What the heck's the problem?!?!?

Post by Core_12 »

I've tried twice to get to the webmasters' usergroup. I've waited for too long! What's the problem? Does my site have to be complete or something?

And I'd need hosting. For my Angelfire site (above). I just couldn't post in the webmasters forum 'CAUSE I'M NOT GETTING IN!!!
"Long before there was ultra-super-duper-128-bit-polygon-video-capture, hardware hype, wEiRd TyPe, pointless game ratings, E3, SCREAMING GUYS in ads, Virtual Reality, cliches like "in your face" and "it's the ultimate", 360 degree roto-scope-rhetoric from self righteous reviewers, CD-this, 3-D that, multi-million-dollar TV commercials tainted with TOILET humor...

...there was fun."

1) They did not make me in charge of the webmasters forum when the original leader left. They made Thrall, who left as well. Until DB or emm makes a new leader, no admissions.

2) www.andrewcharron.tk <-- My site, click on hosting...

It's not my fault! We had the wrong guy as the main dude. It's fixed now, though.

Da_Goat PMed me several months ago saying he no longer wanted to run the Webmasters group and resigned from that position (by refusing to make any more entries if I didn't replace him)-so I placed another user, Thrall, to take his place. Aparently Thrall hasn't been around as of late so Da_Goat is now the mod of it-but don't blame me-I had to in order to find a replacement for Da_Goat.

Well I'm glad it's fixed now. Thank you everyone! And BTW, if someone (for example, Kazer0) hosted me, how would I build my site? I mean, how could I edit the files and stuff?

I am the only one here who offers hosting short of emmzee himself, and his hosting isn't gauarnteed.

You use FTP and can edit, upload, download, whatever you wish. It also comes with php, asp. html, cgi-bin, perl, and MySQL.

Kazer0.
What about me? Could I get a hosting too? It'll be for the new GH Soldat Clan, members of which are already Smileyss (co-leader )and Da_Goat (janitor). (and we're looking for new members. #gamehippo.clan at irc.webchat.org for admission).
The site would run on e107, so we'd need ftp access, php, and a mysql database (or a simple dir, doesnt matter). We won't cost you much bandwidth (who cares about gh clan anyway), but still, it would be a nice thing to do.
What do you say?

I have 1gb space and 10gb bandwith with php, asp, cgi, MySQL, perl, and the ability to host people.

Anyone who fills out the form gets hosting, so just fill it out.

Kazer0: But how do I modify my files once they're on the web? Do I have to have copies on my computer too? You know, do you have a system like Angelfire ( http://www.angelfire.com ) does?

angelfire is for noob webmasters. Any REAL webmaster uses notepad for HTML and FTP.

For this reason, you must edit files on your computer then upload them.

Yes yes but can the site be edited on-line?

And I DO use only text editors. Just that is there an ONLINE text editor like Angelfire has? You know, like a text box where you can open and modify the source code and then save it.

Open your FTP client, find the file in question you want to edit on the remote host, click tranfer to send it to whatever folder you keep your files for that site (I created my own, though you don't *have* to it just makes it easier for organization) and go to that folder on your computer. Open the file with notepad, edit it, save it, switch back to FTP client. Click on the file in question and click "transfer" to send it to the folder in question on your remote host. It's not *that* hard... sheesh...
