In summer 2013, Apogee Entertainment LLC released the source code of Blake Stone: Planet Strike. This became the basis for the BStone source port, which since v1.10 (9June 2015) adds full support for both shareware and registered releases of Aliens of Gold as well.
The port is generally quite conservative. It runs the games at high resolution (keeping the proper aspect ratio) and allows for a modern control scheme, but otherwise seems to stay pretty true to the respective originals.
