Old? Hover Game

Post by UltraGamer »

Years ago I remember playing some sort of hover game in where there was one level where you were in a desert-like place with like, police hover cars or something like that chasing after you in som bits of it and you have to collect like objects around the place that took a bit of travelling to get to.
I also remember another level that was like this enormous and continuous road, like a race course but you weren't racing and there were enemies on the edges everywhere and you had to shoot them using some sort of laser thing you had.
These are the only two levels I remember because theyre the only two levels that i ever played because i think i had a demo version maybe. Sorry bout the difficult description cause im not so good at describing things so well, but

Its 3d, and the name might start with D im not sure exactly. I will be in your debt if you could ever find the right game. I would kill to find this game again (not really but im sure you get the point). I think this game was meant for win95 or win98 most likely.

No racer

It wasn't a racing game, it was kind of like a car adventure or something. Plus it was a 3-dimensional HOVER-CAR game. Thank you though.

I also think it wasnt just a D, but like DX or DZ something or rather. Im not totally sure on whether it was DOS or WINDOWS but i definitely played it on a comupter, although im pretty sure it wasnt DOS.

The desert lvl i mentioned was like a maze kinda where you had to find some item that could just be lying on the ground. At one point in the lvl you could see a big bridge that you could go onto eventually if you looked throughout the lvl. The other one was almost like you were racing someone because it was on some sort of road but it definitely wasnt.

I also remember that the enemies i mentioned on the side were like small turrets or something. It also couldnt have been a game with that good a graphics since it was on a windows computer, with only 20.?? mb of hard disk space, but it was definitely a 3d game. You started the levels off on some sort of big platform thing, or at least with the road one you did, the desert one im not 100% sure.

Im not even sure how i even got this game but please find it for me, because GOOGLE is said to be the best search engine, but most of the time its absolutely CRAP and ive been searching for years, basing my searches on my memory, but if you put too many words in GOOGLE, it finds the most unlikely of sites. Like you could probably put in something about games, and quite a description, and it could probably come out with some porno site or something.

So please, im desprate to play this game again, or at least see screenshots if it doesnt work on winXP sp3. Even if you find the wrong game, at least you tried.

No, Sorry. But about another game.

Post by UltraGamer »

No sorry, those games arent it either. Honestly, I dont think people play the game anymore or even know about it because this is getting me nowhere, including searching on the internet which im still trying to do. So thanks for all your help, but it doesnt seem like the game exists anymore, and also i think i remember where i got it from. Years ago, one of my old computers got stuffed and so a guy from my church said hed fix it. He fixed it and also put a whole bunch of computer games on it, so im gonna ask him on sunday about it.

Also, one of those games, is called like Jims house i think, or something similar. I cant remember much about this game, but you were in front of a mansion or something, and you were some guy that needs to go in there for some reason, or maybe a kid who gotta dare, cant remember. Anyway, you had to jump on some tree to get on a truck or car i think to get on the other side of a big black fence. When you went in the house, there were zombies i think that you had to shoot with some sort of gun or laser gun or something, and had to press a button to reload, and i think you may have had unlimited ammo. I think there was a certain door somewhere inside the house to goto the next level. I cant remember a thig about the next level, if i ever made it there.

Ummm I'm the guy who posted this ages ago. Sorry for not responding. I think I felt stupid after not know what you were on about and just eventually forgot. Anyway, I still would really like to find this game. Now, I think you may have been able to change the camera view, but I'm not sure. However, from memory, I played it prominently in third-person mode where the camera followed behind and slightly above you for the most part, I think. Hope that helps, thank you.

Maybe something like Hover! or G-Police? First person in screenshots, but maybe 3rd person option, too.

Do you know if it was more old "Doom" and "Wing Commander" style 3d with flat textures for enemies, or more like "Quake" and modern 3d with actual models for textures?

Other games that these descriptions bring up in my head - Carmageddon, that other game "like" g-police but I can't remember the name (helpful, I know! Maybe someone else remembers it.), and Wikipedia has a Vehicular Combat Game List that might be worth looking through.

The opening poster's description reminded me of Road Warrior, but I'm not sure if it had a third-person view mode.

Other things to check out (maybe) are Havoc and G-Nome.

Come to think of it, many 3D games from the 90s feature desert landscapes. Maybe because they were more or less easy to draw without straining the limitations of hardware.

Can't remember if the same is true for Rogue Squadron, but in Star Wars: Episode I - Battle for Naboo there are levels where you use a landspeeder and/or similar vehicles.

Grasping at straws a bit perhaps, but that's all I can think of at the moment that hasn't been mentioned.
