Got tinny sounding speakers? Want to make the bass just a bit better? Well, now you can, and the best part... its free! That's right, just flip your speakers around so that the backs are facing you. Why don't they just make them that way? It's sooo much better sounding!

If you turn speakers around so they face into a corner the base gets louder from standing wave amplification or something like that. This has been used in car audio for many years (I have 2 boxed 10" bass speakers firing toward the back of the car in the trunk (No I DONT LISTEN TO RAP).

Those on a budget who find that most low end PC speakers are dismal have an out. The recent tsunami of good "A/V" speakers has made it all alot easier on us. Locally, I could get a pair of very clean sounding shielded 2-way (1" + 6-1/2") by Sony or Yamaha for 20-40 bucks, depending on sale. Yamaha also has a decent 3-way (8" woofer) bookshelf for a bit more. Your soundcard may need a little boost to make 'em work though. A basic yard sale 20-40 watt sterio amp w/4 speaker outs will solve that and finally give you a reason to use the line level in and out's on your card. Such amps usually have a much better output to headphones, a very good thing if the baby (or etc) and you have a serious non-PC double hardware conflict.
At a guess, I'd almost bet those face-the-wall speakers are ported (at the back?). Pointing the port "out" would likely help some. Alternately, the dampening of the speaker cabinets (inside padding or out....is it sitting on thin/no carpet?) is lacking.
Hope GAMER found a solution to her sound problem. If not, we will see below......
