I have a sega dreamcast, and i accidently deleted the DNS that it had. Anyway, under the modem stuff where you can get ur DNS, it has a check in the box that says the DNS is assigned every time you sign onto the internet. The problem is, is that that option does not appear on Sega's Internet browser!
How do i find my DNS?
Thx
Richard

If you have cable tv, you don't even need an adaptor (if you have cable internet).

lol, DC was the first (i think) system to have a Modem, and as far as i know...
Japan: Released before the modem, Japanese had to pay x-tra for it
Europe: DCs came with a 28K modem
North America: Came with a 56K modem
There is no cable modem for DC, just dial up. Cable is a new thing for consoles.

I'd believe that, except my friend went online with his Dreamcast at another friend's house, and I was there to see it.

ok, well, i knew how to do it all along (i just never thought of it) and the solution is actually V E R Y dos related.
to find your DNS...
1) Connect to the internet
2) Open up a command prompt
3) Type in IPCONFIG /all
and there they are at the bottom of the list

hmm that's strange. the ip address shown in the dos window is different to the one an A.L.I.C.E. bot told me.

whast an A.L.I.C.E?
the A.L.I.C.E may have told you the IP you were using at the time (ip addresses tend to change on the internet. If you look at my post IPs [which you can't 'cos you have to be a mod] you'd see that i have several different ones.) The one ipconfig /all gives you is you actual, 'hard copy' IP address
or at least, i think that's how it works

Actually, there was a Game Informer article that went into the entire history of Consoles going the way of the internet. The earliest one was
very old (though it could only be a direct-connection). I'll see if I can find that article a bit later.

Hmm, all of the stuff from ipconfig comes through to fast; is there anyway I can fit more text from these type of commands (eg, "type") into the screen, or a way I can scroll up (which I think is impossible)?

scroll lock
i think ipconfig /all /batch <drive letter:\name of file.txt>
example, to save it on the C drive as "ipinfo"...
ipconfig /all /batch c:\ipinfo.txt
then exit DOS and go to the file you just made.

Hmm, thats where I'd heard A.L.I.C.E before, it's can be talked to on MSN. I added it but it never talked to me. I did talk to one, however, that seemed quite intelligent (no, it wasn't a real person), but it pissed me off after a while.
