Mana Bar.
Very excited.
Mana Bar is right near my house.
I'm going to go slide my resume under the door when i get back home.
Do you guys have stuff like this in your hometowns? If so, what should i expect?

Looks awesome.
And it's more PC oriented.
Nope, at least a 20 KM drive to find something a bit similar.GAMER wrote:Do you guys have stuff like this in your hometowns?

Actually, this bar is being oriented around social gaming (rockband, mariocart, etc.) rather than cerebral gaming like FPS's or RTS's, so she could expect nice smelling people too.
I like seeing the photos of the work being done, it looks like a lot of the aesthetic decoration (painting, paneling, sanding, flooring, etc.) is being installed by the owners and their friends. Of course, they could've just done that for publicity and then handed the tools back to the construction team, but it really seems they're going out of their way to make it personal and friendly. (or just cutting costs, you don't have to pay your friends!)

They have their facebook discussion board open for suggestions of what people would like to see, and have been responding promptly, which i think is cool.
Effective business relies on communication.
I'm hoping it's not TOO rockband and mariokart... They could do like time-based things or a high-score system to make it 'social' but still have fun games.

So the opening is on Saturday starting from midday...
They're giving a prize for best Cosplay.
Although i won't win, and don't even like vodka... I still want to dress up.
Does anyone have any ideas of who i should dress as?
Some of my ideas were: Elaine Marley, Morgan LeFlay (new MI character), Olivia Ofrenda (Beatnik poet from Grim Fandango)...or maybe a Plunderbunny from Monkey Island... You all know i have a bunny suit.
Did anyone have any other ideas?

Lulz!
I think i've decided on Olivia. She's cool...
Do you think a red beret would be close enough?

I don't have blonde hair anymore, and it's short.
I WAS thinking about Jill though.

So i just got home and it was great fun!!
The place is absolutely tiny though and the line-up was 2 hours long at 12:30 midday!
They had 5 screens set up - 1 x guitar hero, 1 x Raskulls (a new local flash-looking thing), 1 x what looked like Streetfighter, 1 x Wii Bowling and 1 x some soccer game.
The drinks were reasonably priced - $14 for a 'gamer themed cocktail' (I had a Mana Potion which was mainly vodka, apple, curacao and champagne, and another drink which i forget the name of but was basically a Mohito)
Everyone was really friendly and excited.
I ended up dressing as Olivia and a fair amount (say, 20 people) knew i was from Grim Fandango, but only 2 people picked me as Olivia. One guy ran up and was really excited that i was Olivia. A couple people called me Manny.
Anyways, here's some of the pics!!
HOT!!

So, there's an 80's Games theme night coming up and i want a cool costume.
Any ideas??
I was thinking of Lemmings, but it was released 1991.
Maniac Mansion was another thought, but i already know someone is going as Purple Tentacle and their costume is great.
Any idea will do!
Movies count as well... or anything recognisably 80's really.
