A: Read my sig, we already have a chatroom.

B: Are you willing to host a WinMX chat? (whatever it is?)

Wally and I were considering hosting a WinMX chat room on my computer but the trouble is is that I don't leave it on 24/7/365.

WinMX is a P2P app like Kazaa, Gnutella, Napster, etc. It offers a chat feature and the ability to create your own chatroom. Wally and I wanted to create a DOSGAMES chat and then invite all of you guys to join it. That chat would be hosted on my Pentium 4 with a cable modem.

Even if I don't leave my PC on 24/7/365, you guys can still chat while my computer is on and when I go to turn it off, I could give you a 5-minute warning or something like that.

WinMX is freeware. http://www.winmx.com

If we can make a sensible arrangement, I could create the DOSGAMES chat room.

IRC is a lot better seeing it's server hosts it and it has much more options.

If you guys want to run your own chat room, you can go ahead, but I'm not getting involved in running it ;) Besides I can't leave my computer on all the time anyways ... its in my room and its too loud to leave it on all night :shame:

Can't you guys have Geocities.com host it or freeservers.com?

Yes, Dogbreath is correct. IRC is a lot better... you can do all sorts of stuff with ops.

ICQ beats them all tho.
"Long before there was ultra-super-duper-128-bit-polygon-video-capture, hardware hype, wEiRd TyPe, pointless game ratings, E3, SCREAMING GUYS in ads, Virtual Reality, cliches like "in your face" and "it's the ultimate", 360 degree roto-scope-rhetoric from self righteous reviewers, CD-this, 3-D that, multi-million-dollar TV commercials tainted with TOILET humor...

...there was fun."

An IRC chatroom is much better, it has more option as said, and you don't need this WinMX program... although it's not a really bad program :)

Wally, IRC has more commands than winMX. I know for a fact that winMX uses a sub-IRC control program.

And not the mention the best part of all-IRC is a lot safer than winMX will ever be.
