Hot Pockets rant

Post by emmzee »

Then the other day I was in grocery store and I saw some Hot Pockets and I said to myself "How bad can they be? It's about time I try one again." Not a good idea.
This is true ... I've bought these $*&%#@ things like 5 times over the last few years ... each time they've been horrible, yet something kept me buying 'em ... glad to see I'm not alone:

http://prosthesis.blogspot.com/2007/01/hot-pockets.html

I finally learned my lesson and don't buy 'em anymore, even when they were on sale for $1 a box recently at No Frills ...

Anyways ... yeah. This video is prolly the longest rant on a microwavable food product ever ... anyone else eat/eaten these things? Or am I (and this blogger guy) just like, really weird?

Good ol' Jim Gaffigan, Hoosier-boy!!

Yeah, I don't like microwave dinner in general. They make...depressed.

I remember watching Jim Gaffigan perform a rant similar to that... it's one of his more famous ones. Anyway, here in Indiana, hot pockets are pretty well known, and universally despised.

They served them at LC for a while. They just sat there....looking extremely dangerous.

I don't think anyone ever ate them. They were there as a testament to say, "Hey, our school food ain't so bad!"

Basically, as Jim said, "stale poptarts filled with nasty meat, dunked in a toilet."

:suspicious: Of course, here: some dude with the voice over advertises some Dr. Tran, who, in fact is some asian kid, that knows nothing about what the voice over is talking about... and we also got a fat rooster

But, it comes with the Hot Pockets, so, unless people buy Hot Pockets just because they like it, they pay $1 for the DVD.....

More on Hot Pockets from Wikipedia:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hot_Pockets

Hilights:

The company Chef America Inc ... began producing Hot Pockets for the market in 1983

One of Mike Myers' characters in the Austin Powers trilogy, Dr. Evil, offers a Hot Pocket to his son, Scott Evil, in 1997's Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery ... He also encourages his subordinate, Frau Farbissina, to enjoy a Hot Pocket while awkwardly conversing about their previous night's unsatisfying sexual encounter.

In the South Park episode "Make Love, Not Warcraft," the boys are seen eating only Hot Pockets and playing World of Warcraft addictively.

As I was reading the Hot Pockets Wikipedia entry, I was like "Hmmm, Croissant Pockets ... those might be okay ......... what the!? *slaps self*"

Haha, that video's pretty funny. I've always kinda liked hot pockets, though I can see where this guy got his material from. They're alright for a quick breakfast/snack, I guess. Hot pockets wouldn't be my first choice, though.
Ugh. After looking over the large list of flavors, I think I only like the bacon, egg, and cheese one. All the others, I wouldn't want at all.

I just get an error saying the video is no longer available. Oh well, I’m sure I didn’t miss out on too much. Image

If you meant that one with Dr. Tran:
1) It works for me...
2) Alternate videos: 1, 2, 3 :P

Thanks for the links Larry, though honestly I can't really be bothered to watch it anyway, I doubt I'm missing much. ;P
