You once got banned from DGF? Please tell us the story

Post by Larry Laffer » Sat Sep 30, 2006 2:13 pm

Dogbreath wrote:You guys should start an "I was once banned from DGF" support group. I'd probably ban myself, just to join...

Sorry people but this is is a thing I just had to do

*Note: this topic was started by a member that was never banned from the forum
*Second note: DB this is your idea and since none of these guys would ever make this thread, I did it

[edit]: "It has been done"... Now DB you just have to ban yourself and post why here

I can honestly say I've never been banned

Technically, DB or Jorrit could ban me since they are admins ... though I could respond by deleting the entire board, so ultimately I hold the endgame/armageddon card

Tell the story? What is this about? Are you planning on breaking the rules and want to calculate your chances of being unbanned?

Read this post: http://www.dosgames.com/forum/viewtopic ... 6332#66332

OR BETTER YET, YOU CAN SCROLL UP AND READ THE TOPIC BEFORE YOU POST IN IT.

Oh, so you're mocking Larry?
There's a word for that on a forum: "flaming."

And BTW, Wikipedia is fun to look at, but it's certainly not better than a dictionary for word definitions.

If a person gets banned, and they rejoin majority of the time you can tell by the style of writing, with grammar and spelling. It's also the same if one of us members had a multiple account and posed or faking to be someone else, everyone has a unique style, so to pretend to be someone fake isn't that easily detectable by a normal user except admin.

Let's say Larry Laffer was him\herself, in this account and he\she created another account xxxxxxxxxx we would be able recognize that it is Larry by his\her writing style. However, if lets say he\she changed certain things like font color, sex and didn't appear as much he\she could get away with it, that until someone asks for check on IP addresses and both appear to be Larry Laffer. the Admins will confirm with Larry Laffer that someone else is or has been using his\her computer address, and same ISP login details. Larry could get away with it for years without anyone knowing the truth, it's until someone does a check and finds multiple IP addresses which are the same that will get him out of hiding...like he\she could pose as their brother, sister, parents, relatives...his\her girlfriend\boyfriend, the possibilities are numerous!!

No, I was not flaming Larry. I was not making fun of him. I was making a joke. I'll add /sarcasm at the end next time.

Also,
OR BETTER YET, YOU CAN SCROLL UP AND READ THE TOPIC BEFORE YOU POST IN IT.
is more of a flame than my post, as it implies I'm stupid.

And BTW, Wikipedia does have an entry for sarcasm. More descriptive than the wiktionary entry.

And I was being sarcastic in a non-offensive way. At least, offending was not my intent.

[comes out of his hiding place behind Mr. Worm]

Actually it's really hard for me to pretend I'm someone else! I really enjoy making fun of myself and everybody knows that.
Also I really pride myself as a good spammer-flamer :P
