Pretty much any animal. I don't have a specific "favorite" and I definitly can't choose between cats and dogs.

Cats: the cute little balls of death are just too good :D

Spend most of their time looking for somewhere to sleep, or something to eat (which means killing pests: they'll eat anything as long as it once breathed and is smaller than them). And they tend to be more toilet-trained than dogs (though they do sometimes drag around corpses).

Cats. They are cleaner and less noisy (most of the time, except during mating season). Since ours is neutered, it's even cleaner and never noisy.

Both dogs and cats are equally adorable. :) However, I prefer dogs because they are more faithful, have ESP and guards the house. Cats can be cute for a play friend. Once I kept a kitten for a week. The kitten was quite playyful. It's climbed my T-shirt as if it was a tree. :P  Have never tried keeping a dog.

One good thing about dogs is they can talk. There are videos on the internet showing it, even America's Funniest Home Video also showed the dogs that said "Mama". Then I think it was Planet's Funniest Animals that showed when the owner wanted a beer, the dog would go to the fridge, open the door, get the can of beer, close the door and bring it back to the owner. I doubt you'll be able to train a cat to do that.

My mom's Aunt had a cat that was potty trained.
Seriously...it would go on the toilet to do it's business.
That's damn useful.

Useful? That's just making it less annoying to clean up after, but I don't see how taking a dump is ever useful.

Now, dragging people from burning buildings, sniffing out drugs, and bringing people beers and slippers, that's pretty useful.

How many people use their dogs for all that?
That's right.
Anyways, it's useful because all you gotta do is push a lever and the mess is gone.
Can your dog do that?...
It's not even a question of emptying a box of sand filled with crap and what not...
But you gotta either go outside and shovel stuff from your yard, or else take a little baggy, grab it and carry it around with you until you find a garbage.
Way less maintenance with cats.

Hell, my dog just drug 3 people out of burning buildings just last week. Next Friday he'll be getting his PH.D in marketing and will be handling all of my finances for me... pretty damn useful if you ask me.
