SpaceFans the answer is yes and no. The easiest way to find out if you’ve already downloaded it would be, as Thunderdog said, to just look up what you’re after on LW yourself. It’ll either be there or not. Generally speaking LW isn’t that great for getting TV programs of any kind, you’re better off going with a BitTorrent client for that, but depending on just how old the show is that wont be of any use to you either and you may end up just having to buy the series you’re after.

Well if you know what you're looking for then one would think you'd just search for that Image.

If you search there and it's on bit torrent, you'll definately find it. Enjoy

Admin edit: This is a bit of a grey area, but since the BT search engines are most often used for illegal material, I think removing the link is the proper thing to do. I don't deny there are legit uses for BT, but search engines like that are generally not used for legit purposes. PM or email is always an option instead of posting links on the forums ;)

Edit: Sorry, thought it would be alright. Guess not.

Well, if that site should be censored, may I make some suggestions to add to the list, as warez is just as easily obtained from these sites as that one?

www.google.com

www.altavista.com

www.lycos.com

www.alltheweb.com

www.hotbot.com

http://search.yahoo.com

www.teoma.com

www.dogpile.com

www.gigablast.com

http://search.msn.com

I try to be a help when I can.

Hahaha, TD, always good for a laugh. :jester:

Seriously though. Don't be a smartass. Is the purpose of a torrent search site for finding illegal files? Yes. Probably 99% of the people using torrent search engines are using them to download illegal stuff. Normal search engines (as kindly listed above) are used for searching the web, not for searching through files (most of which are illegal). As I said, there's no question that there's legitimate uses for BT. There's also a legitimate use for programs like Limewire or Kazaa, but we all know what the vast, vast majority of people use those for.

bt enables you to aquire/use torrent files... torrent files are sort of a shortcut to a file on someones computer except that it can be accesed from anywhere by anyone if made public.

It's supposed to be faster (and it definitely is), but most of the time just bombs out your whole network.

I use Edonkey2000. I think it is the best for obscure TV shows (I got all of Xena off there, Hercules is pushing it, but I have half of it :D).

And by the way: WHAT THE HELL IS IT WITH THOSE CAT PICTURES? I find it disturbing that about 3 mods are in this thread and none of them seemed to care. Maybe you all liked it or something? :P

Oookay, moving on. Either way weather you use a Bit Torrent client or a P2P program like LimeWire the majority of files being transferred will be illegal warez. They are not designed for such use per se, but there aren’t exactly security measures in place to stop such activities. Anyway SF since you know what you’re looking for it shouldn’t be too hard to find. If you need further help there are plenty of online guides that do a pretty good job of explaining things.

Limewire is spyware infested.

The Mac version doesn't though (well, because it is a Mac), but it does this lovely little thing of hogging all the RAM.

I've always preferred torrent programs in getting my music. For instance rather then downloading a single song at a time by an artist you can download every album they've ever released in one go. P2P isn't that great for finding rare files either. And then there’s the speed problems, that being said back in the day Napster was awesome :P.
