Smoking Is Very Dangerous To Our Health
Smoking Is Very Dangerous To Our Health
We know that:
Smoking is a dangerous and self-destructive habit. Various poisons contained within tobacco smoke cause or contribute to cancer of the mouth and lungs, heart problems, emphysema, gum disease and a variety of other physical diseases.
Cigarette smoking is the most preventable cause of premature death in the United States . That’s important! Want evidence of the dangers of smoking?
Consider these statistics:
A smoker’s risk of heart attack is more than twice that of nonsmokers. Cigarette smoking is the biggest risk factor for sudden cardiac death -- smokers are looking at two to four times the risk of nonsmokers. Studies have shown that cigarette smoking is also an important risk factor for stroke. The evidence also indicates that chronic exposure to environmental tobacco smoke (secondhand smoke, passive smoking) may increase the risk of heart disease.
Most smokers sincerely want to quit. They know cigarettes threaten their health, set a bad example for their children, annoy their acquaintances and cost an inordinate amount of money.
Nobody can force a smoker to quit. It's something each person has to decide for himself., Sometimes the cigarette is used as a tranquilizer.. Once a smoker understands his own smoking behavior, he will be able to cope more successfully and select the best quitting approaches for himself and the type of life-style he leads.
Quitting is hard, but don't give up!

Indeed, smoking is deadly.
I'm a smoker though, I think everyone has the right to do as much harm to themselves as they want. I like cigarettes and I also smoke a pipe. I don't like life my very much, I don't think dying would really be that bad.

I will give you another consideration for your oh so healthy way off living:
every time you ride in your car you kill me much more than someone that smokes.
No ?
A smoker polluates about 15 litres air for a sigarette.
A running engine polluates at a RPM/3000/min:
3000*2=6000 litres/minute.(that's for a average 2000CC engine.)
PLEASE don't give me that crap about catalysators, please don't!They have to be manufactured and recycled........ .
And NO i'm not a smoker,live and let.....yes.
I don't like anyone that want's to impose his way off living to another, regarding health, religion or what the f*** else.
We have a history regarding some people how know's best, it give us wars and persecution al through human history, even ower days.
Fanatics only raise the opposed effect.

Okay.Kazer0 wrote:Well, the discussion is now why smoking is bad. I removed all teh spam.
Well, the only reason why I hate smoking is that people like to do it while I'm trying to enjoy my hamburger at restuarant or when I'm trying to breathe in my required amount of oxygen to maintain life.
All in all, I hate secondhand smoke.
Besides, there are cooler and faster ways of dying.
I don't care if people smoke or do other harmfull things to their body as long as society doesn't have to pay to fix them up because of their smoking, and as long as they don't do it by me.
Smoking and its diseases should not be covered by any insurance or state/federal medical aid. Go home and hack up your lungs untill you die or pay for all health care out of pocket.

I have no problem with the occasional cigar.Dogbreath wrote:I smoke 1 or 2 cigars a month and and joints occassionally, but cigarettes are just plain nasty. I don't know how anyone could tolerate smoking them...
I think things are fine in moderation; just chain smoking or a smoking pack a day is a bit much.
I've heard cigs have a calming effect, so that's why most people can't quit.

Actually, smoking is very good for government health care programs and insurance companies in general. A guy starts smoking at 20, smokes for 35 years costing the insurance company almost nothing during those years while paying thousands in cigarette tax, then gets lung cancer at the age of 55 and is dead by 60.Unknown_K wrote:I don't care if people smoke or do other harmfull things to their body as long as society doesn't have to pay to fix them up because of their smoking, and as long as they don't do it by me.

Lung cancer and other smoking related diseases are very cheap to treat... say, maybe, $2-5,000 more a year. So ultimately, smoking will end up costing your insurance company maybe $25,000 at most in his entire life. Whereas if the guy didn't smoke, he'd probably live to 80 or 85 and healthcare might spend that same amount of money in *one year* just paying for all the expensive prescription drugs for arthritis, etc.

Cigars are very calming. They put you in a relaxed mood and make you feel more sociable. Weed even more so. Very nice after a long day's work.Mr. Worm wrote:I have no problem with the occasional cigar.Dogbreath wrote:I smoke 1 or 2 cigars a month and and joints occassionally, but cigarettes are just plain nasty. But I couldn't imagine smoking 5 cigars or 3 roaches (Roughly the equivalent of a "pack") a day, or even in a month. Not to mention you inhale cigarettes... that just makes me feel putrid inside, feeling it my lungs.
