W_GetNumForName: LOADING not found!

Post by Shatterflare »

Whenever I try to play games with Dosbox, I get this message. I've tried Rise of The Triad, and Heretic so far, and I get the same message with both games. Can anyone shed some light on what this means and what I can do about it?

Both of those games use DOS4GW, a 32-bit DOS extender. DOSBox is not very good with 32-bit games (yet) so your best bet is to find some other way other than DOSBox. (like real-mode DOS/Virtual PC/etc.)

I never have tried rise of the triad on dosbox , but i suppose it wouldn't run smoothly through it , much to demanding.
As for heretic: take a surf to:
http://www.doomsdayhq.com/
and get yourself jdoom , works nice with the full / shareware version.
Everything is explained there.
i suppose you are on XP ???????????????????????????????

It means that you're trying to run the game from the incorrect directory.
