I think this would be especially good in the Get Games to Work and Finding Old Games forums.

yes it would prevent many absent minded guests posting from a really old topic for example in the year 2000

No it wouldn't. No one would look there. If they wanted to look, they would hit search. You underestimate the idiocy of some people.

And so was Kazer0. And he's right. What was the point of you posting that?

K0 serves a good point... since the archive will eventually top 2 or 3 pages the DFU's will get too lazy to read in it and just post again where to find the games...

1. There is no way on God's green Earth am I going to waste 4 hours doing something that pointless.

2. Many of the topics in find old games and get games to work may still be of use to people... and they can be searched just as easily as you could search an archive.

well if it was all in one post then the people could search for what they want....

Anyway this is enough.. I am going to go through all the problems in the getting games to work and then place them and the answer in the database. That means you can delete loads of posts :) or even start a fresh

you may as well put the last 5 pages of the Getting Games to work in an archive forum
as all those games are in the XP compatability database

Woah woah woah, that's counter intuitive. The search function here (and at google) lists by topic, so putting them all into one topic would make finding any given post HARDER, not easier! And this forum is only ~20 MB at the moment, once we start getting millions of posts I might start deleting old posts, but I'd probably start with a more useless forum, like general off-topic.
