Looking for a Star Trek game?

I was going to try to answer all the existing threads relating to a Star Trek game, but I thought it would reduce the clutter if it were just kept to one thread. Perhaps this could be stickied?

I run the TrekPulse Gaming Museum, which is an attempt to list and document every computerized Star Trek (and related) game made for any platform since Trek gaming began. We just launched title page coverage for every DOS game in existence (with just a few exceptions):

http://gaming.trekcore.com/alpha_list.html

Anyone coming to this forum can look there and at the other platforms for ideas (also available are chronological and alphabetical lists) before asking here. If anyone still has a question then please post in this thread and I'll try to help.

I grew up with DOS and am very fond of it, but only a novice compared to most people here, I assume. I love Trek gaming, however, so I consider myself an expert when it comes to its history.

Note that we also cover some non-Trek games (inc. DOS) that are based on the gameplay invented by the very first Star Trek game. I, collectively, refer to these games as "SST games". Star Fleet I: The War Begins is an example (and one of the few exclusions from the above list).

You forgot to put the Amiga version of George Broussard's Trek Trivia on your site.

^Thank you! It seems that *does* exist. Do you have any more information or links for the game? Also, can you confirm that George Broussard actually wrote this title? I ask because, on the DOS PC, Broussard's trivia game was called "Star Trek The Next Generation: TRIVIA", while his future Apogee partner, Scott Miller, wrote the DOS "Trek Trivia".

Demonomainia: This is my all-time favorite games list broken into two categories if you're interested....

TIER ONE - Virtual Perfection
  • Star Trek 25th Anniversary [Enhanced CD-ROM Edition] (DOS PC)
  • Star Trek Judgment Rites [Collector's Edition] (DOS PC)
  • Star Trek The Next Generation "A Final Unity" (DOS PC)
TIER TWO - "Virtual" Bliss (with SOME flaws)
  • Star Trek Deep Space Nine Harbinger (DOS PC)
  • Star Trek 25th Anniversary (NES)
  • Star Trek Hidden Evil (Windows PC)
  • Star Trek Klingon (Windows PC)
These are all adventure games--the only game genre, so far, that can provide a true and complete Star Trek experience, IMO. I am looking forward to the new MMO, "Star Trek Online", however.

So, basically, you guys are saying I do quality work?

Well, I just retired from TrekCore; it's time to be moving on. The site and section will continue as always, though they could certainly use some help if you'd like to apply! You could rather easily end up doing everything I used to do AND have access to everything I had, as well. Just click on the "Volunteer" link from the main www.trekcore.com website and e-mail your inquiry to the webmaster.

Anyway, I made one final contribution in the form of a few "A Final Unity" demonstration videos before I left. They shouldn't be too hard to find.
