2D platform PC game about boy w/ a red cap [Dangerous Dave]

Hi, I have a vague memory of a platform game I used to play as a kid (early 2000’s). The only character choice was a boy with a red baseball cap and blue pants with a white shirt. He would go through levels trying to get something(cant remember what). He would face off aliens by shooting stuff. it was really low pixelated so im guessing it was 2D. I remember he would jump over seaweed on one of the levels. He jumped by kicking a leg forward(this was unique to me at the time.) The very first round has red bricks as a background. I played it on a computer that used windows. I was hoping you could help me find the name of the game. I know this isn’t a lot to go on but its been stuck in my brain. Thanks!
