Old Shareware/Freeware Maze Game

Here's what I can tell you:

Probably purchased at a computer show in the PA area in the mid to late 80's, as shareware, but may also have been freeware

Ran on either DOS or Win3.1

Black and white, maze filled the entire screen

Mazes randomly generated each time

You moved your cursor (DOS smiley face :) ) through the maze using arrow keys, heading for a hole in the exterior wall that indicated the exit

The walls were thin white lines, no breaks in them (it wasn't like ------)

That's really all there was to it... move the smiley to the exit. I spent hours and hours and hours playing this as a kid... I dug through every 5.25" and 3.5" floppy I could find looking for it, I even dug through the old hard drives left from our Win95 machine. I cannot find this. Please help!!

It doesn't sound familiar ... you can try checking this list of text mode DOS games:

http://ascii.classicgaming.gamespy.com/downloads.html

Hopefully one of them is the one you're looking for ...

I thought Maze Machine just drew mazes for you to solve... no playable character.

w00t! My parents flew up to Seattle for a visit, and gave me a CRITICAL clue! Dad said it was called "The Amazing Maze Game", and sure enough, searches for that title revealed a game nearly identical to what I am remembering. Unfortunatly, the original game was released for arcade machines, and was multiplayer. Mine was single player and ran on DOS/Win3.1. However, I now have lots of resources, including screen shots of the original, for you to check out!

http://www.englishbanana.com/big-resour ... nload.html

Now.... all I have to do is find the single-player DOS port of the classic "Amazing Maze" game :D

Amazing Maze download:
http://rapidshare.com/files/51538037/am ... e.zip.html

You will need to run it in dosbox, VERY LOW CPUCycles.
CPUcycles on mine: 300
Alter the game name from amazing_maze.exe to amazing.exe

You will have to buy me plenty beers now, and some big fat cigars.
(If it's the same, plenty clones for that genre of game).

Minor details .... minor details ...... minor details ......
A nitpicking mood today, isn't it greencosmos?

Look at it from a more positive viewpoint: The more guesses, the more maze games we get to know and to test out.
There are some pretty ones between them, smiley face or not, let them come !!!!
