Why did no-one tell me about this?!?!!??!?!?!?!?!?! :wow:

omg.omg.omg.omg.omg.

BLaaaaaarrrggg!

You cannot understand how amazingly excited i am.

I hope to hell that they don't crucify it!!
Sam and Max was okay, so here's hoping it's everything i've always dreamed of. *crosses fingers*

It's no exaggeration that my entire life has been all for this moment.

Thoughts, opinions, explanations why no-one mentioned this to me??

Grmpffff, good thing she doesn't know about all the PMs we send each other about this latest monkey business.

Seriously, I kinda have my doubts, dunno, ..... really dunno.
Don't set your expectations too high.

Sadly, I've learned to have my doubts about 3d adventure games >_<

FAQ wrote:What is Tales of Monkey Island about?

During a heated battle with his nemesis, the evil pirate LeChuck, Guybrush unwittingly unleashes an insidious pox that rapidly spreads across the Caribbean, turning pirates into zombie-like monsters. The Voodoo Lady sends Guybrush in search of a legendary sea sponge to stem the epidemic, but this seemingly straightforward quest has surprises around every corner. Join Guybrush for a 5-episode adventure filled with intrigue, betrayal, suspense, and a rich, gooey helping of piratey goodness. Not to mention the second biggest… oh wait, you've heard that one before?
Which characters are returning?

Guybrush, LeChuck, Elaine, and the Voodoo Lady, for sure. Plus there's a whole new cast, new islands to explore, new voodoo curses to recite… okay, that's all you're getting out of us!

Plot being not all that original aside, where's Stan? :O

I'm a bit unnerved by the "5 episode" bullshit.
I disliked the way it was done in Sam and Max 2... i assume it'll be much the same?
Small mini-game type things... with an over-arching theme?

I do however like the look of the graphics. They aren't as "3D" as MI4... If you know what i mean. I don't actually know the words for that.

I'm very excited about the fact that MI1 is being re-released in HD!
For nothing more than novelty really.

And i'm more excited about the fact that this is the second old adventure game they've revived. Can't ignore that this could mean a resurgance in popularity of the genre, and moar games!!

On that note, i have noticed some new "adventure" titles popping up... Has anyone played Vampyre Story?

Looking at the Sam and Max-series I really doubt this'll be as good as the old games.

Now, what is more interesting is the remake of the first Monkey Island! "The Secret of Monkey Island: Special Edition". It has a button to be able to switch between the old and new look at any time and also has voice-acting by the original Guybrush.

What is even more interesting (20% MORE EXCITING!) is that LucasArts is actually doing something with their old franchises. They've hinted at going to do more, like finally a Full Throttle 2? Let's hope.

Today, Yahtzee(I'm very disappointed in everyone for not knowing who he is, especially you, Wally) reviewed the Monkey Island redux episodes.

Never played the things myself, but given Yahtzee's review track record, it appears he kinda liked them.

Wasn't he part of that Trilby's Notes discussion we had?

Anyway, he's probably the most famous game-related Australian resident (though not native, obviously), so Wally should've at least heard of him.

If you like the series, the new games are worth the buy.
I don't mind them.
I wrote about the first episode in the game review section...

And if you think about it, it'd be exponentially funnier if he hadn't. ;)
