I've asked another forum to help, but I'm believeing that this game is simply unrunnable. The only solution I can think of offhand is dual-booting, but that's a bear, and pretty much a last resort.

Dosbox will help you out - if you run the game through that, it emulates a slower computer, slowing the game down to a playable rate.

Have you tried the D-Fend frontend? It can help you manage the game better. Beyond that... I feel like all our old experts have left. Man, I'm missing Procerus right now. I wish I could be like him. I really don't know troubleshooting much, sorry. Maybe someone else'll help.

I personally use Doomsday, but I'm not sure if you can install Doom through that or not.

Doom95 is good, though.

Yes. It's called Rats. I can email you the file if you want - it's shareware.

Yeah, but there was some mild discussion going on there for a while. Heck, I was just going to delete it all, but I figured I'd let the topic die down first. Well, I supposed locked is fine.

My general advice for speed is to crank the cycles - games can often handle a faster rate, but lag with a slower one.

You run the game THROUGH Dosbox, using the command prompt to mount your hard drive, find the file, and run it. It's covered in the two topics here, by typing "Help" in dosbox, and I'm sure on many websites. The D-Fend frontend can help you out here, too.

You'll have to hit Alt+Enter, which will make the game fullscreen.

Hopefully. I believe that CTRL-f12, or just straight f12, will increase your cpucycles. Type "Help" in the DB prompt to get the commands.

I'm guessing you need both. However, those patches may not be enough. DOSbox may fix your problems - check the FAQs on this forum for it. The D-Fend program would help you out a lot, too - it's a frontend for dosbox that makes it more user-friendly. Just remember to crank the CPU cycles to make the ...

Yes, the A-Bomb was the best way to end the war with Japan. It would have lasted a LONG time without it.

Try running it through Dosbox, that can slow it down. The issue is that your computer is too fast to run game - it can't handle it. Doxbox can slow the game down, emulating the speed of old computers.
