Taking into account the fact that the game's installed into a WARCRA~1 (supposedly "Warcraft 2") folder, it's better to reinstall it from within DOSBox altogether (btw, the default folder offered by the installer is "war2").

Do you have the demo or the full version?

Correction: I downloaded the full version of the game from www.dosgamesarchive.com. Eh? There's only a playable demo there. Downloading the full version is kind of illegal, as I don't remember that Warcraft: Orcs & Humans went officially freeware. If you downloaded the right archive here , you ...

Re: Dune II with Gravis Ultrasound in DOSBox [Howto]

.... Unfortunately, that patch does not work well with DOSBox ... Patch works in dosbox if it finds the right drivers. Well, I used that old patch with the drivers from Huggybaby2's pack, and it a) sets the game to play music through MT-32, which is not the best quality compared to Sound Canvas, b)...

Dune II with Gravis Ultrasound in DOSBox [Howto]

Recently I've found a very old unofficial patch for Dune II that adds GUS support. Unfortunately, that patch does not work well with DOSBox, but the principle behind it allowed me to make a suitable little patch of my own. The simple trick behind the patch is that the setup programme tells Dune II w...

BTW, I noticed that for the MiG-29 Fulcrum demo I linked to above to work, all the data files must be manually placed into a sub-directory called "D", or the demo will not work at all.

Okay, as you wish. But since I know for sure the site I linked to is not a "website hosting Abandonware or Warez downloads", I don't consider myself having violated any of the forum rules - unless, that is, the paragraph you quoted above (and, mind you, I never post links to abandonware st...

Hey, the site I linked to is NOT an abandonware site - it hosts demos and shareware versions that are absolutely legal to distibute in just the same way dosgames.com or dosgamesarchive.com do. Please be so kind and point me to the exact entry in the rules that I violated, as I can't figure out what ...

I've stumbled upon yet another beta demo of Powerslave , presumably released somewhere between the first public beta and the demo builds that are identical to the final release of the game. This demo (it's called "freeware" in the readme) still has the beta title screen, and a rolling intr...

Glad to hear that :) Here are a few more: Radix: Beyond the Void v2.0 REMIX Both dosgames.com and dosgamesarchive.com offer Radix: beyond the Void v1.1, yet there exists an upgraded version 2.0, which was significantly improved over v1.1. Most importantly, forced forward movement was disabled in fav...

The shareware version of Rise of the Triad starts with the player jumping down a high catwalk, and while there is no rain per se , there are flashes of lightning and rolling thunder. The first level of Chasm: the Rift starts in a rainy outside location, but you mentioned it's not Chasm . Do you reme...

A few game suggestions

May I suggest a few games for your consideration to be hosted at dosgamesarchive.com? Chasm: The Rift A noteworthy 3D FPS similar to Quake in some aspects (albeit with a less powerful engine), made by an Ukrainian development team. The three-level demo shows a somewhat earlier build of the game, wit...

Mods/hacks for Warlords 1 or 2

An acquaintance of mine told me that he vaguely remembers some game that could have been a mod or a hack of Warlords (or, more likely, Warlords II ), where, among other things, it was possible to buy production of normally unbuildable units in the castles. Does anyone know of such a modification? (O...

Here's what I've found so far: Civilisation Demo (non-playable) Haven't been able to run it though (DOSBox) F-19 Stealth Fighter Demo (non-playable) Even though it is not playable, it's worth checking out. It's a spectacular record of a mission in Northern Europe. Master of Magic Demo (beta) There s...
