Dosbox is the only free one I know of. If you have some old DOS install disks, you can download a 30day trial of Microsoft Virtual PC and then you basically have DOS. The only problem is that it's a 30 day trial and the program isn't free.

ZDoom is the more traditional game version, while JDoom is a highly advanced version that makes Doom look very modern. Both are great choices.

Exult: http://exult.sourceforge.net/

This is by far the best way to run the game. This should work on all modern systems. Try it out.

You really should buy the game. If you look, you can find the Ultima Collection for pretty cheap (I got mine for $10) and it has all the Ultima games U0-U8.

If you look, you can find it easily for free, but it's illegal.

Does sound work at all for the machine? Like Windows sounds, etc... You can also try a program called ZDoom that runs on modern systems and keeps the traditional Doom style. I would guess you want the great original gameplay, but if you want to try something advanced, JDoom makes Doom look like a mo...

What sound card do you have and does it have any DOS legacy support? It would probably also be worth your while using VDM Sound from here- http://ntvdm.cjb.net I also suggest VDMsound. It has some compatibility options that are useful. Also, if I recall, Duke Nukem uses the BUILD engine, which mean...

I remember when I first played Descent 1, I was amazed at the gameplay and graphics. The shareware version barely ran on my machine (a Packard Bell 25mhz 4 ram). I had to start it in some sort of "safe mode" for Windows 3.1 just to get it to work! I never really got into D3 but I have it a...

I have one quick suggestion, the colors on your page, black and dark blue, lack contrast and are kind of hard to see. Maybe use a lighter shade of blue? Just a suggestion. :)

GTA3 is great, the cop AI is much better. GTA2 is an awesome game, with fairly simple cop AI, but it doesn't seem to work on Windows 2000.

Ultima 7: The Black Gate, a great RPG

Ultima 7 is probably the best RPG I have ever played, a close second would be Chrono Trigger. But back to U7, why is it so great? I will rate the orginal game and the game using the Exult engine, which is one of the only ways to play the game using 2000/XP. I will use the 0-100% scale. In parenthesi...

My monitor is kind of weak, it's an old 17 inch one, I want to get a 17'' or 18'' flat screen soon. I run it at 1280x960 in True Color, but only at 60hz.

I have about 3 others, but I'm not sure what they are.

I play acoustic guitar, I just recently started so I'm not too good. I'm saving up for an electric, or at least for a nice acoustic with a pickup.
