The game is mostly Mouse driven, and obviously the Arrow and [ENTER] keys will move the cursor and select what it's pointing at. These are the rest of the keyboard commands. General Pause = [P] Increase game speed = [T] Quit = [Q] Change Audio = [V] Go to Captain's Cabin = [SPACE] Exit a scre...

Just make a line in your AUTOEXEC.BAT file on your boot floppy that's just like the line in your AUTOEXEC.BAT file in the root directory of your C: drive that refers to the mouse driver that's normally loaded. You don't actually need to copy the mouse driver file to the boot floppy, since the AUTOEX...

The Ancient Art of War link is abandonware, with a direct download link. I did not post a direct download link. The legal questions regarding the content of the Home of the Underdogs website is thier problem, not mine. At any rate, I will not make the mistake of posting a link to any part of the Ho...

There was an old strategy game I used to play years ago on my 286/16... It was called "The Ancient Art of War". I will run in CGA or Monochrome mode (with a Hercules MCGA emulator). I have no clue where the game might be acquired, but this is what it looks like: [Edited for content, not by author.] ...

since you have win98 shut down to dos and try running it from dos. it's made for dos. Not to imply that your suggestion won't work, Jshivak... But don't confuse the poor guy into the mistaken belief that "re-booting into DOS mode from Win95/98" is even remotely the same thing as running the actual ...

Check out this site:

Commander Keen Newsletter

Click on the "Game Devices" link, and look for a utility called "DosBox v0.58".

See if that doesn't solve your problem...

Why not just add "Any game released prior to 1995" to the "Probably won't work under WinXP" list?

Should save a lot of time...

In order to help you, the following information is needed:

1. Name of game you are trying to run, and version (if applicable).

2. A breakdown of your hardware (see signature below for an example).

3. What Operating System are you trying to run the game under.

Pirates! Gold has a built-in RAM counter that can't be fooled by EMM386's XMS limitation switch, or by RAM allocating tricks like RAMDisks. What I ended up doing, was using the HIMEM.SYS and EMM386.EXE from MS-DOS 5.0, which has a 16MB RAM limitation, to get Pirates! Gold to run properly. Get those ...

I know nothing about Blood Bowl , but I am a resident expert on Pirates! Gold . Q. Do you have the DOS (original) version, or the Windows (later) version of Pirates! Gold ? If you have the DOS version, forget it. Not only will it not run under XP, but it also won't run on any machine that is capable...

Beyond a certain point, it's impossible to hobble a PC enough to accommodate some of the older games. It's not just a matter of speed , but the technology has changed so drastically, and in ways the game's designers could never have anticipated. They used things like direct port-writes, internal RAM...

I think your problem is the OS itself. There may not be a workaround for running Daggerfall in Win2K. See, Win2K is a designed to be a corporate (networking) OS. You shouldn't expect it to be really forgiving about running games and stuff like that. For one thing, Win2K doesn't include most of the P...

I could be mistaken, but Daggerfall could do a routine system analysis upon installation, and configure itself for your hardware at that time. It's not uncommon. By making changes to the system (drivers, etc.), the configuration may have been invalidated. Try this: 1. Re-name the "Daggerfall" folder...
