Hmm...the only wire-frame 3D game I remember playing back in the days is Starglider.
You flew a low-level 'glider' not a robot, those were some of the enemies.
Not sure about the red/green lines though.

One thing I must warn you of is Moby's primitive html interpreter, and its tendency to erase blocks of text if there are syntax errors in the html code entered.

(I use a html preview plugin for my editor to safeguard against that, and just copy/paste when all looks good.)

I found out through a FAQ that there was a playable demo released for this game.
FAQ: http://www.gamefaqs.com/pc/564990-star- ... faqs/60594

The link in the FAQ was dead, but the demo was also found in some other locations, e.g.:

There is a screenshot from F-19 Stealth Fighter on the Atari platform that might fit the night scene somewhat. Maybe this is what you are after?

There might have been a TFX demo on some of DiD/Oceans other CD:s, since on this one there is a demo of their 'Inferno'. I'm unsure if it's playable or just automated - I didn't try to get it going, as I have the full game. edit: I checked it out, and no, it's not playable, only a non-interactive de...

Hmm...I just fired it up in DOSBox to check, and the training section starts with a *daytime* screenshot of something looking like what you describe. Possibly there is night-time training too, I don't recall.

It sounds like a version of Nethack/hack, a roguelike game usually with ASCII graphics, but there are some versions with more graphic symbols for the objects/monsters. Every time the game is begun, a random map is generated, and the potions you mention are mixed up, so you cannot keep notes from one...

Hmm...saw a riding sequence in 'Hillsfar', maybe too old a game though.
Also fighting orcs seems optional in an arena, so it's probably not it.
