One of my favorite old action-adventures. (recently remade for mobile platforms)
There was an attempt to make a prequel, but it petered out eventually, a demo was finished though.

Hmm. I'd like to say 'ToeJam & Earl' but those did not come out on DOS, what I can see. (The windows releases are really re-releases from 2012) 2 characters, nighttime in many screenshots, but on a Sega system. http://www.mobygames.com/game/toejam-earl http://www.mobygames.com/game/genesis/toejam-ea...

A long-shot:

The graphics is in odd-angles for the adventure parts, but you didn't mention the action sequences, so perhaps it's not the right one. Two diskettes anyway.

Perhaps your sister was saying 'Quasimodo', so maybe it's a hunchback game?

Maybe one of the Hot Wheels (Mattel) licensees, they have something of a toy-car look. http://www.mobygames.com/game/hot-wheels-stunt-track-driver http://www.mobygames.com/game/hot-wheels-stunt-track-driver-2-get-n-dirty Was you car powered, or did it just roll downhill, like a skateboard game? For gardening games, maybe this list is better:
http://www.mobygames.com/game-group/gam ... -gardening

...then again, it's mostly Final Fantasy games that are listed for Windows.

I only found an old (1985) Hammurabbi variant from Australia called 'Nedrag Island' but that is hardly what you want. (textbased resource management)

Hmm...I looked at it, it seems to have been available since -96 or so. Did not see any lead character choices though. You cannot select actions for people, you just distribute the population percentage between builders/soldiers/merchants and clerics, and let them act on their own. The battles occur ...

Stretching is a common problem with old 4:3 aspect games on todays 16:9 or 16:10 displays. If the game is playable in a scaleable window it might look better. C&C was originally DOS, not sure if the GOLD version had a plain DOS installation as an option as well, in which case DOSbox might help makin...

All of the videos are 4 months old, same music, with varying still pics, about 1 minute each. I'd guess it's some spam bot taking snapshots of videos and re-posting them. Follow-up activity is posting links to those videos on various forums, using the same id, which is still going on. For what purpo...
