Did you sell the pickups to get points/credits to buy things in the shop?

Hmm...not sure about the Nazi flags, but otherwise maybe 'Freedom Fighters' would work, a Soviet invasion of the US? https://www.mobygames.com/game/windows/freedom-fighters If Nazi's are absolutely required I'd suggest: 'The Saboteur' - though it also has some driving in it, and a 1st person view so...

Great, another game I need to play - esp. as I love the music tracks already (several are the same as in the Crusader series, if not all.)

Probably not MDK / MDK2; three guys, partly FPS partly adventure puzzles.
(I don't think there was a woman)

Maybe there is something in this list: https://www.mobygames.com/game-group/animals-ducks/offset,0/so,1d/ If it wasn't specifically a duck, I'd suggest Stargoose Warrior; this is a space shooter game with a spaceship looking a bit like a goose, also your pilot is a goose. https://www.mobygames.com/g...

I was thinking of that game too, but I don't recall it being very dark/rainy, so maybe it's another one.

Another possibility is to check on Mobygames, since that site has lists of games for many platforms - and maybe someone there may knows of iOS games more intimately.

I don't know, but I think the time I stay logged in to the forum has shortened recently. Is it just me? Is there a setting to configure the session timeout?

Not sure if you are referring to the same game; I found one game in 2D: Nimbus (with a pink blob protagonist flying around), which might partly fit the 1st description.

Elf Bowling came out in Nov 1999 according to MobyGames, so that is a good reference in time. So it might even have been a game from early 2000? The playing style of just walking through a cave to kill monsters for pickups seems more like plain action like the Barbarian game mentioned earlier, maybe...

Some more technical details are needed I think; do you remember the viewpoint; 1st person, or side view 3rd person, or maybe top down? Was the graphics simple wire-frame, or letter/character based, or more 2D filled polygon style? (I assume it's not a text adventure with still image graphics) Do you...
